2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety warnings and operating instructions before using this device. Failure to do so may result in injury or damage to the product.

  • Input Voltage Protection: The normal input voltage range is 7-70V DC. If the input voltage exceeds 72V, the device will display an "Over voltage at Input" warning. The device can withstand a 100V DC input for approximately 1 second. Disconnect the high input voltage immediately to prevent damage.
  • Fuse Protection: The device includes a backup fuse. If the primary fuse is damaged, you can temporarily use the backup fuse for short-term operation within the 10A range. For full range operation, replace the damaged fuse with an appropriate 40A fuse (1032 type).
  • General Electrical Safety: Ensure all connections are secure and correct before applying power. Do not operate the device in wet conditions or near flammable materials.
  • PC Software Compatibility: The PC software only supports Windows 7 and above operating systems.

5. Setup

Follow these steps for initial setup of your RD6030 power supply module:

  1. Prepare Power Source: The RD6030 requires an external AC-DC power source. Ensure the power source meets the input voltage requirements (7-70V DC) and can supply sufficient current for your intended output.
  2. Install CR1220 Battery: For the time display function, you will need to install a CR1220 battery (not included) into the designated slot.
  3. Connect Input Power: Connect the positive and negative terminals of your AC-DC power source to the input terminals of the RD6030. Observe polarity carefully.
  4. Mounting (Optional): The RD6030 is designed as an integrated panel. You may integrate it into a custom enclosure or rack mount setup as needed.
  5. Initial Power On: Once all connections are secure, power on the external AC-DC power source. The RD6030 display should illuminate.

6. Operation

Operating the RD6030 involves setting desired voltage and current limits and connecting your load.

  1. Setting Output Voltage and Current: Use the control buttons and rotary encoder on the front panel to set the desired output voltage (V-SET) and current limit (I-SET). Refer to the on-screen display for current values.
  2. Connecting a Load: Connect your load to the output terminals. For high current applications (e.g., 30A), it is recommended to use copper cable with a 4 square millimeter or 12AWG wire.
  3. Battery Charging: When charging batteries, use the dedicated green battery charging terminal as the positive output. Ensure correct polarity for safe charging.
  4. PC Software Control: Connect the RD6030 to a Windows 7 (or above) PC using a USB micro cable to utilize the PC software for advanced control, monitoring, and data logging.
  5. Display Customization: Navigate through the menu options to change the display style (Classic, Detailed, Curve) or customize the color scheme to your preference.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your RD6030.

  • Fuse Replacement: If a fuse blows, disconnect power immediately. Locate the damaged fuse and replace it with a new 1032 40A fuse. The device includes a backup fuse slot for temporary use within the 10A range.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the manufacturer's website for available firmware updates. Updating the firmware can improve performance, add new features, and resolve potential issues. Follow the provided instructions for the update process via PC software.
  • Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.

8. Troubleshooting

  • "Over voltage at Input" Warning: This indicates the input voltage has exceeded 72V. Immediately disconnect the input power source. Verify your power source output voltage is within the 7-70V DC range.
  • No Display/No Power: Check the input power connection and ensure the external AC-DC power source is functioning. Verify the internal fuses are intact. If a fuse is blown, replace it as described in the Maintenance section.
  • Incorrect Output Readings: Ensure all connections are secure. If readings appear inaccurate, the product can be calibrated and fine-tuned by comparing with a high-precision multimeter.
  • PC Software Connection Issues: Ensure the USB micro cable is securely connected to both the RD6030 and the PC. Verify that your PC is running Windows 7 or above. Reinstall the PC software and drivers if necessary.
