4. Setup
4.1 Initial Charging
Before installation, fully charge the doorbell using the provided USB cable. Connect the USB cable to the doorbell and a standard USB power adapter (not included). The LED indicator will show charging status.
4.2 App Download and Account Creation
- Download the Yale Home app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
- Create a new account or log in to your existing Yale Home account.
- Follow the in-app instructions to add your new Yale Smart WiFi Video Doorbell. This typically involves scanning a QR code on the device and connecting it to your home's 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
4.3 Mounting the Doorbell
The doorbell is designed for wall-mount installation. Choose a location that provides a clear view of your entrance and is within range of your Wi-Fi network.
- Position the mounting plate at the desired height (typically 48 inches / 1.2 meters from the ground).
- Mark the screw holes using the mounting plate as a template.
- Drill pilot holes and insert wall plugs if mounting on masonry or stucco.
- Secure the mounting plate to the wall using the provided screws.
- Attach the Yale Smart WiFi Video Doorbell to the mounting plate, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

4.4 Wired Power Option (Optional)
For continuous power, the doorbell can be hardwired. It requires an AC to DC adapter (1V) for proper operation. Consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about wiring.
Important Note: Connecting the Yale Smart WiFi Video Doorbell to existing doorbell wiring without the correct AC to DC adapter (1V) can potentially damage the device's circuit board. Always ensure the correct voltage adapter is used if opting for wired power, or rely on battery power to avoid damage.
5. Operating the Doorbell
5.1 Live View and Two-Way Audio
Open the Yale Home app on your smartphone. Select your doorbell from the device list to access the live video feed. Use the microphone icon to speak to visitors and the speaker icon to hear them.
