5. Setup and Installation

The Swokely Smart Lock is designed for surface mount installation. Please follow these steps carefully.

5.1 Pre-Installation Checks

  • Ensure your door thickness is compatible with the lock's components.
  • Gather necessary tools: screwdriver, drill, measuring tape, pencil.
  • Install 4 AA batteries into the inner lock unit. Observe polarity.

5.2 Installation Steps

  1. Prepare the Door: Mark the desired position for the lock on your door. This lock is a surface-mount type, meaning it attaches directly to the door surface rather than requiring extensive mortising.
  2. Install the Lock Catch: Secure the lock catch to the door frame using the provided screws. Ensure it aligns correctly with the main lock unit.
  3. Mount the Inner Lock: Attach the main lock unit (inner lock) to the inside of the door using the mounting screws. Ensure it is level and securely fastened.
  4. Mount the Outer Panel: Position the fingerprint keypad (outer panel) on the outside of the door, aligning it with the inner lock. Secure it with the appropriate screws.
  5. Connect Components: Connect any necessary cables between the inner and outer units as per the included diagram (if applicable, refer to the quick start guide for detailed wiring).
  6. Install Cylinder: Insert the lock cylinder and ensure the physical keys operate smoothly.

6. Operating Instructions

Your Swokely Smart Lock offers multiple convenient ways to unlock your door.

6.1 Fingerprint Unlock

  • Enrollment: Refer to the Tuya App instructions for adding new fingerprints. Typically, this involves placing your finger on the sensor multiple times from different angles.
  • Unlocking: Place your enrolled finger firmly on the fingerprint sensor. The lock will unlock within approximately 0.5 seconds if the fingerprint is recognized.

6.2 Password Unlock

  • Setting Passwords: Manage and set passwords through the Tuya App.
  • Unlocking: Enter your registered password on the keypad, then press '#'. The lock will unlock.

6.3 Card Unlock

  • Enrollment: Add new cards via the Tuya App.
  • Unlocking: Present an enrolled card to the card reader area on the outer panel. The lock will unlock.

6.4 Key Unlock

  • Insert the physical key into the keyhole located on the outer panel and turn to unlock. This serves as a backup method.

6.5 Tuya App Remote Control

  • Download App: Download the Tuya Smart app from your device's app store.
  • Pairing: Follow the in-app instructions to pair your smart lock with the Tuya app via Wi-Fi.
  • Remote Unlock/Management: Once paired, you can remotely unlock the door, manage user access (add/delete fingerprints, passwords, cards), view access logs, and receive notifications from anywhere.

6.6 Automatic Locking

  • The lock is equipped with a locked inductor. After the door is closed, the lock will automatically engage.

7. Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: The lock features a low power reminder. When the battery level is low, replace all four AA batteries promptly.
  • Emergency Power: If batteries deplete completely, connect a Type-C cable to the emergency power port on the outer panel to temporarily power the lock and gain access.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the lock's surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or electronic components.
  • Fingerprint Sensor: Keep the fingerprint sensor clean and dry for optimal performance.

8. Troubleshooting
