2. Product Overview

The Comfort Zone CZ12820 is a portable electric space heater designed for indoor use, featuring PTC ceramic heating technology for fast and efficient warmth. It offers two heat settings and a fan-only mode, along with an adjustable thermostat for customized comfort. Built-in safety features include overheat protection and a tip-over switch.

3. Setup

The Comfort Zone CZ12820 heater requires no assembly and is ready for use directly out of the box.

Placement:

  1. Place the heater on a firm, level surface.
  2. Ensure the heater is positioned at least 3 feet (0.9 meters) away from any walls, furniture, curtains, or other combustible materials.
  3. Do not place the heater in areas where it could be easily knocked over.
  4. Ensure the power cord is not obstructed or placed under rugs.

Power Connection:

  1. Verify that the heater is in the OFF position before plugging it in.
  2. Plug the power cord directly into a 120V AC, 60Hz wall outlet. Do not use extension cords or power strips.

4. Operating Instructions

This heater features two rotary control knobs on the top for easy operation.

Power and Heat Settings:

  1. Locate the right-hand knob, labeled 'OFF / FAN / I / II'.
  2. Turn the knob clockwise to select your desired mode:
    • FAN: Activates the fan only, providing airflow without heat.
    • I (Low Heat): Provides 700W of heat.
    • II (High Heat): Provides 1000W of heat.
  3. The power indicator light will illuminate when the heater is on.

Adjusting the Thermostat:

  1. Locate the left-hand knob, marked with '+' and '-' symbols.
  2. Once a heat setting (I or II) is selected, turn the thermostat knob clockwise towards '+' for a higher temperature setting, or counter-clockwise towards '-' for a lower temperature setting.
  3. The heater will cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.

Shutting Off the Heater:

  1. Turn the right-hand knob (Heat/Fan Mode Selector) to the 'OFF' position.
  2. Unplug the heater from the wall outlet when not in use.

5. Care and Maintenance

Proper care and maintenance will ensure the longevity and safe operation of your heater.

Cleaning:

  1. Always unplug the heater and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces of the heater.
  3. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents as they may damage the heater's finish.
  4. Gently use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove dust from the air intake and exhaust grilles.
  5. Never immerse the heater in water or allow water to drip into the interior.

Storage:

  1. Store the heater in its original packaging or a suitable container to protect it from dust and damage.
  2. Store in a cool, dry place when not in use.

6. Troubleshooting

If your heater is not operating correctly, please refer to the following common issues and solutions:

  • Ensure the Heat/Fan mode selector is set to 'I' (Low Heat) or 'II' (High Heat).
  • Increase the thermostat setting by turning the knob towards '+'.
  • The heater will only activate when the room temperature drops below the set thermostat temperature.
Heater repeatedly turns off.
  • Overheat protection activated.
  • Tip-over switch activated.
  • Unplug the heater, allow it to cool for 10 minutes, then plug it back in. Ensure air intake/exhaust are not blocked.
  • Ensure the heater is on a stable, level surface.
