3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The Tadeto pH Meter requires 2 batteries for operation. Follow these steps to install them:
- Locate the battery compartment at the top of the pH meter.
- Rotate the cap of the battery compartment counter-clockwise to open it.
- Insert the 2 provided batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Replace the cap and rotate clockwise to secure it.
This video demonstrates how to rotate and install the batteries into the pH meter. It also shows the initial cleaning of the probe by rinsing it in water and wiping it gently.
3.2 Initial Probe Preparation
Before first use, or if the meter has been stored for a long time, the probe should be prepared:
- Remove the protective cap from the probe.
- Rinse the probe tip with distilled water.
- Gently wipe the probe with a clean, soft cloth.
4. Calibration
The Tadeto pH Meter utilizes a rigorous three-point calibration method to ensure optimal accuracy. Calibration should be performed regularly, especially after prolonged storage or if readings appear inconsistent.
4.1 Calibration Procedure
- Turn on the pH meter by pressing the "ON/OFF HOLD" button.
- Press and hold the "CAL/▲" button until "CAL" appears on the display.
- Dip the probe into the pH 4.01 calibration solution. The meter will automatically recognize the solution and calibrate. Wait for the reading to stabilize.
- Rinse the probe with distilled water and gently wipe it dry.
- Dip the probe into the pH 7.00 calibration solution. The meter will automatically recognize the solution and calibrate. Wait for the reading to stabilize.
- Rinse the probe with distilled water and gently wipe it dry.
- Dip the probe into the pH 10.01 calibration solution. The meter will automatically recognize the solution and calibrate. Wait for the reading to stabilize.
- Once all three points are calibrated, the display will show "PAS" indicating successful completion.

This image illustrates the calibration steps: rinsing the probe, turning on the device, pressing and holding CAL/▲, and then inserting the probe into pH 4.0, 7.0, and 10.0 calibration solutions sequentially until calibration is complete.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Taking a Measurement
- Ensure the meter is calibrated as described in Section 4.
- Remove the protective cap from the probe.
- Rinse the probe with distilled water and gently wipe it dry.
- Immerse the probe into the sample solution or material to be tested. For soil or semi-solid food, use the zinc alloy protective cap to assist penetration.
- Gently stir the probe in the sample to ensure uniform contact.
- Wait for the reading on the LCD display to stabilize. The display shows both pH and temperature.
- Press the "ON/OFF HOLD" button briefly to hold the current reading on the screen. Press again to release.
- To switch between Celsius (℃) and Fahrenheit (℉), press the backlight/decrease value button.

This image shows a hand holding the Tadeto pH meter, with its probe immersed in a glass of orange juice, demonstrating its use for liquid pH measurement.

This image illustrates the versatility of the pH meter, showing its application for measuring pH in soil, plants, juice, canned food, drinks, cheese, fruit, meat, breads, and pool water.
This video showcases the pH meter's functionality, demonstrating how to measure pH in a liquid solution, a piece of cake (food pH measurement), and soil (soil pH measurement). It also shows the installation of the zinc alloy protective cap for soil testing.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Probe Cleaning
After each use, it is crucial to clean the probe to ensure accurate future readings and prolong its lifespan:
- Rinse the probe thoroughly with distilled water.
- Use the provided brush to gently clean any residue from the probe tip.
- Wipe the probe dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
6.2 Probe Storage
Proper storage of the probe is essential to prevent it from drying out and to maintain its sensitivity. The probe should always be stored in KCL solution:
- Ensure the protective cap contains KCL solution. If not, add a few drops of the provided KCL solution into the cap.
- Place the protective cap back onto the probe, ensuring the probe tip is immersed in the KCL solution.
- Store the meter upright in a cool, dry place.
Notice: If the probe is not used for a long time, please store it in KCL solution. It is normal for solutions to crystallize. If crystallization occurs, simply rinse the probe with distilled water before use.

This image provides a visual guide for maintaining the pH meter probe, showing steps for rinsing the probe, adding KCL solution to the protective cap, and tightening the cover for proper storage.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Inaccurate readings | Probe not calibrated; dirty probe; dried out probe; expired calibration solutions. | Recalibrate the meter (Section 4); clean the probe (Section 6.1); rehydrate probe in KCL solution for several hours; use fresh calibration solutions. |
| Meter does not turn on | Dead batteries; incorrect battery installation. | Replace batteries; check battery polarity (Section 3.1). |
| Slow response time | Probe is dry or contaminated. | Clean the probe thoroughly and rehydrate in KCL solution. |
| "CAL" error during calibration | Incorrect calibration solution used; probe not properly immersed; probe damaged. | Ensure correct pH buffer is used; ensure probe tip is fully submerged; contact customer support if probe is suspected to be damaged. |
