Setup

1. Unpacking and Inspection

  • Carefully remove the mixer from its packaging.
  • Inspect the unit for any signs of damage during transit.
  • Ensure all components listed in the packing list are present.

2. Power Connection

Connect the provided power adapter to the mixer's power input and then to a standard 110V AC power outlet. Ensure the power switch on the mixer is in the OFF position before connecting.

3. Input Connections

The GX8 features 8 mono input channels, each supporting both XLR and unbalanced 1/4" plug connections.

  • Microphones: Connect XLR microphones to the XLR inputs. For condenser microphones requiring power, activate the +48V phantom power button.
  • Line-Level Instruments: Connect instruments or other line-level devices using 1/4" TS/TRS cables to the LINE inputs.
  • USB Input: For digital audio input from a computer or USB drive, connect via the USB port.
  • MP3 Input: Use the dedicated MP3 input for compatible devices.

4. Output Connections

  • Main Output: Connect your main speakers or amplifier to the L/R MAIN OUT XLR or 1/4" outputs.
  • Control Room Output: Use the CTRL ROOM outputs for connecting studio monitors.
  • Headphones: Plug your headphones into the PHONES jack for personal monitoring.
  • AUX Send/Return: Connect external effects processors using the AUX SEND and RETURN jacks.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off

  • To power on, ensure all volume controls are at their minimum, then flip the power switch to ON.
  • To power off, turn down all volume controls, then flip the power switch to OFF.

2. Channel Control Overview

Each of the 8 mono channels features the following controls:

  • GAIN: Adjusts the input sensitivity for the connected microphone or line-level device.
  • EQ (High, Mid, Low): 3-band equalizer for shaping the tone of each channel.
  • AUX: Controls the level of the signal sent to the AUX send output for external effects or monitor mixes.
  • FX: Controls the level of the signal sent to the internal effects processor.
  • PAN: Adjusts the stereo position of the channel's signal (left to right).
  • LEVEL FADER: Controls the overall output volume of the individual channel.
  • PFL/MUTE: Pre-Fader Listen (PFL) button for monitoring the channel's signal before the fader, and MUTE to silence the channel.

3. MP3/USB Playback

The GX8 supports MP3/USB input with song name display.

  • Insert a USB flash drive containing MP3 files into the USB port.
  • Use the dedicated controls on the MP3/USB section to navigate tracks, play, and pause.
  • The LED display will show song information.

4. Bluetooth Wireless Audio Streaming

Stream music wirelessly from your smartphone, tablet, or other Bluetooth-enabled devices.

  • Activate Bluetooth on your device.
  • Select "GX8 Mixer" (or similar name) from the list of available Bluetooth devices.
  • Once paired, audio from your device will stream directly to the mixer.

5. Built-in Effects (Reverb)

The GX8 features a built-in reverb function for enhancing vocals and instruments.

  • Adjust the FX knob on individual channels to send signal to the effects processor.
  • Use the main EFFECTS level control to adjust the overall wet/dry mix of the reverb.
