4. Setup and First Use

4.1 Unpacking and Placement

  1. Carefully remove the refrigerator from its packaging.
  2. Inspect the unit for any shipping damage. If damage is found, do not operate and contact customer support.
  3. Place the refrigerator on a flat, stable surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit, especially near the compressor and vents. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
  4. For optimal performance, allow the refrigerator to stand upright for at least 6 hours before connecting to power, especially if it was transported horizontally. This allows the compressor oil to settle.

4.2 Power Connection

The Alpicool CF35 can be powered by two methods:

  • DC Power (12/24V): Connect the DC power cable to the refrigerator's DC input port and then to your vehicle's 12V or 24V power outlet (cigarette lighter socket).
  • AC Power (100-240V): Connect the AC adapter to the refrigerator's AC input port, then plug the adapter into a standard wall outlet.

Note: The unit will automatically detect the input voltage. Do not connect both AC and DC power simultaneously.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Control Panel Functions

The control panel features an LCD display and several buttons for operation:

  • Power Button: Press to turn the unit ON/OFF.
  • SET Button: Press to enter temperature setting mode or to cycle through battery protection levels (Low, Med, High) and operating modes (ECO, MAX).
  • Up/Down Buttons (▲ / ▼): Adjust the temperature setting or navigate menu options.

5.2 Setting Temperature

  1. Turn on the refrigerator by pressing the Power button.
  2. The LCD display will show the current internal temperature.
  3. Press the SET button once. The temperature display will flash.
  4. Use the Up (▲) or Down (▼) buttons to adjust the desired temperature. The temperature range is -4°F (-20°C) to 68°F (20°C).
  5. After setting, the display will stop flashing and return to showing the current temperature after a few seconds. The unit will begin cooling or heating to the set temperature.

5.3 Operating Modes (ECO/MAX)

The CF35 offers two operating modes:

  • ECO Mode (Energy Saving): The compressor operates at a lower speed, consuming less power. Ideal for maintaining temperature or when power efficiency is critical.
  • MAX Mode (Fast Cooling): The compressor operates at maximum speed for rapid cooling or freezing. Use this mode when you need to quickly reach the desired temperature.

To switch between modes:

  1. With the unit ON, press the SET button repeatedly until 'ECO' or 'MAX' appears on the display.
  2. Use the Up (▲) or Down (▼) buttons to select your desired mode.
  3. The setting will be saved automatically after a few seconds.

5.4 Battery Protection System

The unit includes a battery protection system to prevent excessive discharge of your vehicle's battery. There are three levels:

  • Low (L): Lowest cut-off voltage, allows for maximum battery usage.
  • Med (M): Medium cut-off voltage, suitable for most applications. (Default setting)
  • High (H): Highest cut-off voltage, provides maximum battery protection. Recommended for starting batteries.

To adjust the battery protection level:

  1. With the unit ON, press and hold the SET button for approximately 3 seconds until the battery icon flashes.
  2. Use the SET button to cycle through the levels (L, M, H).
  3. Release the SET button. The setting will be saved automatically after a few seconds.

Note: If the unit displays an 'E1' error code, it indicates low voltage. Adjust the battery protection level to a lower setting (e.g., from H to M or L) or recharge your battery.

6. Maintenance and Care

6.1 Cleaning

  • Always disconnect the power supply before cleaning.
  • Clean the interior and exterior of the refrigerator with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Wipe dry thoroughly after cleaning to prevent water spots or mildew.
  • Regularly clean the ventilation grilles to ensure proper airflow and prevent dust buildup. Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner.

6.2 Defrosting

The Alpicool CF35 features an automatic defrost system. However, if a thick layer of ice builds up on the interior walls, it can reduce cooling efficiency. To manually defrost:

  1. Turn off the refrigerator and disconnect it from the power supply.
  2. Remove all contents.
  3. Leave the lid open to allow the ice to melt naturally. You can place a towel inside to absorb water.
  4. Once defrosted, wipe the interior dry before reconnecting power and resuming use. Do not use sharp objects to remove ice.

6.3 Storage

When storing the refrigerator for an extended period:

  • Ensure the unit is clean and dry.
  • Leave the lid slightly ajar to prevent odors and mildew formation.
  • Store in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
