3. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of your camera. The REOLINK Duo 2V PoE camera is designed for outdoor use and ceiling mounting.
3.1 Pre-Installation Considerations
- Avoid Direct Light: Do not face the camera directly towards strong light sources (e.g., sun, bright spotlights) to prevent overexposure and image degradation.
- Weather Protection: While IP67 weatherproof, avoid placing the camera in positions where heavy rain or direct water spray can consistently hit and cover the lens, as this may temporarily obscure the view.
- Operating Temperature: Ensure the installation location's temperature remains within the camera's operating range of 14°F to 113°F (-10°C to 45°C).
3.2 Mounting the Camera
Tools required for installation typically include a drill, hammer, screwdriver, and the provided mounting template and screws.
- Prepare the Ceiling: Find a suitable place on the ceiling. Stick the mounting template onto the ceiling and drill holes accordingly. Insert the drywall anchors into the holes.
- Remove Dome Cover: Use the provided hex key to unscrew the dome cover from the camera base. Keep the protective film on the cover until installation is complete.
- Secure the Base: Pass the network cable through the cable notch on the mount base. Secure the base to the ceiling using the provided screws.
- Adjust Viewing Angle: Find the optimal viewing angle for the camera and adjust accordingly. The camera supports 360° horizontal and 57° vertical manual adjustments. Note that there is no software-controlled pan & tilt functionality.
- Attach Dome Cover: Securely attach the dome cover back onto the camera base using screws. Remove the protective film.

3.3 Connectivity
The camera supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) for simplified installation, requiring only one Ethernet cable for both power and data. A DC 12V power input is also available as an alternative.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Smart Detection
The camera features advanced AI capabilities to accurately detect persons, vehicles, and animals. This minimizes false alarms and ensures you receive relevant real-time alerts via app push notifications, email, or NVR buzzer. Motion clips can also be recorded and uploaded to FTP.

4.2 Night Vision Modes
The camera offers flexible night vision options:
- Infrared Night Vision: Provides clear black and white images in complete darkness.
- Color Night Vision: Utilizes built-in spotlights to deliver full-color video even in low-light conditions. Spotlight activation can be customized (motion-triggered or scheduled).

4.3 Two-Way Talk
Equipped with a built-in microphone and speaker, the camera enables two-way audio communication, allowing you to listen in and speak through the camera via the Reolink app.
4.4 Flexible Recording Options
Recordings can be stored in several ways:
- MicroSD Card: Supports up to 256GB for local storage.
- Reolink NVR: Compatible with specific Reolink NVR models (N7MB01/ N6MB01/ N5MB01/ H3MB18/ N2MB02/ N3MB01) under the latest firmware version.
- FTP/NAS: Upload motion clips to an FTP server or Network Attached Storage.

4.5 Multi-Platform Access
Access your camera feed and settings from multiple devices using the Reolink App (iOS/Android) or desktop client. This allows for smart playback and multi-user access.

5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the camera's dome and lens with a soft, damp cloth to ensure clear image quality. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Firmware Updates: Keep your camera's firmware updated to the latest version to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features. Updates can typically be managed through the Reolink app or client software.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect the network cable and power connections for any signs of wear or damage, especially in outdoor installations.
6. Troubleshooting
- Camera Offline: If the camera frequently goes offline, check the network cable connection, ensure the PoE switch/NVR is functioning correctly, and verify network stability. A power cycle (unplugging and replugging the camera) may resolve temporary connectivity issues.
- NVR Compatibility: The Duo 2V PoE camera is compatible with specific Reolink NVR hardware (N7MB01/ N6MB01/ N5MB01/ H3MB18/ N2MB02/ N3MB01). Ensure your NVR has the latest firmware version for full 8MP live streaming and dual-lens viewing.
- Image Distortion: Due to the 180° panoramic view, some image distortion may occur, especially at the edges of the field of view. This is inherent to wide-angle lenses. Adjust camera placement to minimize distortion in critical areas.
- Stripped Screws: When removing or attaching the dome cover, use appropriate tools and apply gentle, even pressure to avoid stripping the screws. If screws are stripped, contact customer support for replacement parts.
