Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Meat is not grinding smoothly or is mushy. | Meat is not cold enough; blade is dull or incorrectly installed; grinding plate is clogged. | Ensure meat is very cold (partially frozen is ideal). Check that the sharp side of the blade faces outwards. Clean the grinding plate and blade. |
| Attachment is loose or wobbling on the mixer. | Thumb screw on mixer hub is not tightened. | Ensure the thumb screw on your KitchenAid mixer's power hub is fully tightened to secure the attachment. |
| Sausage casing is tearing or not filling properly. | Mixer speed is too high; casing is dry or tangled. | Reduce mixer speed. Ensure casing is properly lubricated (e.g., with water) and untangled before stuffing. |
