3. Setup

3.1 Initial Charging & Power On

Before initial use, fully charge the Argus 4 Pro camera using the provided USB-C cable. Once charged, power on the camera. The included 6W solar panel is designed to provide continuous power, requiring only about 10 minutes of direct sunlight per day for normal operation (based on 20 motion events, 15 seconds each).

3.2 App Download & Configuration

Download the official REOLINK App from your device's app store. Create an account and follow the in-app instructions to add your camera. This typically involves scanning a QR code on the camera. The app allows you to configure Wi-Fi settings (supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6 for smooth 4K streaming), adjust detection sensitivity, set motion zones, and manage local storage options.

3.3 Mounting the Camera & Solar Panel

The Argus 4 Pro offers flexible mounting options including wall mount and strap mount (for trees or poles). Use the mounting hole template and provided screws for wall installation. For optimal solar charging, ensure the solar panel is placed in an area with maximum direct sunlight exposure throughout the day. Connect the solar panel to the camera using the provided cable.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Live View & Playback

Access the live feed of your camera through the REOLINK App. The dual-lens design stitches two views into a seamless 1800 4K perspective with minimal distortion, providing a wide, blindspot-free view. You can also review recorded footage stored locally on a microSD card (up to 512GB, sold separately) or the Reolink Home Hub (supports up to 2x512GB microSD cards).

4.2 ColorX Night Vision

The ColorX technology enables full-color night vision even in low-light conditions, thanks to its F/1.0 aperture and 1/1.8 sensor. This provides true-to-life details and a clearer picture compared to traditional infrared night vision.

4.4 Two-Way Audio

Utilize the two-way audio feature through the app to communicate with visitors or deter unwanted guests directly from your device.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Management

While the solar panel provides continuous charging, factors like extreme cold (below 350F) can affect its charging efficiency. In such cases, or during prolonged periods of low sunlight, you may need to manually charge the camera using the USB-C cable. Avoid excessive live viewing or frequent motion events in low-light conditions to conserve battery life.

5.2 Cleaning

Periodically clean the camera lenses and the solar panel surface with a soft, damp cloth to ensure optimal performance. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals that could damage the device. Ensure the camera's waterproof seal (IP66 rated) is intact after any manual charging or maintenance.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Connectivity Issues

If the camera experiences unstable connection or frequent disconnections, ensure it is within optimal range of your Wi-Fi router. Wi-Fi 6 offers improved stability, but physical obstructions (concrete, metal walls) can still interfere with the signal. Try repositioning the camera or router, or consider a Wi-Fi extender.

6.2 Recording Problems

If recordings are not saving or playback is slow, verify that a microSD card is properly inserted and formatted. Ensure the card has sufficient free space. Check the recording settings in the app to confirm motion detection and recording schedules are correctly configured. For Home Hub users, ensure the hub is online and functioning correctly.

6.3 False Alerts

To reduce unwanted alerts, adjust the detection sensitivity in the app. Utilize the customizable motion zones to exclude areas where motion is not relevant (e.g., public sidewalks, swaying trees). Ensure person/vehicle/pet detection filters are enabled.
