5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ORICO 9958C3 enclosure, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Drives Not Detected: Ensure all hard drives are properly seated in their trays and the trays are fully inserted into the bays. Verify that the data cable is securely connected to both the enclosure and your computer, and the power cable is connected to a live outlet. Try a different USB port or cable.
  • Intermittent Disconnections: This can sometimes be related to power management settings on your computer, especially in Linux environments. Ensure USB power saving features are disabled. For Linux, adding 'usbcore.autosuspend=-1' to the kernel command line might resolve the issue.
  • Slow Transfer Speeds: Confirm you are using a USB 3.2 Gen 2 compatible port on your computer. While the enclosure supports 10Gbps, actual transfer speeds may be limited by the SATA III protocol (up to 6Gbps) and the speed of your hard drives. Test with different cables if necessary.
  • Enclosure Overheating: Ensure the enclosure is placed in a well-ventilated area and the fan is not obstructed. Excessive heat can lead to performance degradation or drive issues.
  • Drive Tray Mechanism: If a drive tray is difficult to open or close, ensure no foreign objects are obstructing the mechanism. Do not force the tray.

If problems persist after attempting these steps, please refer to the support section for further assistance.
