  1. Install Batteries: Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote control. Slide the cover downwards or outwards to open.

  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
  4. Ready to Use: The remote is now ready to operate your compatible Hitachi TV. No additional pairing or code entry is required.

Operating Instructions

Familiarize yourself with the primary functions of your new remote control:

  • Power Button (●): Located at the top left, press to turn your TV on or off.
  • Number Pad (0-9): Use these buttons to directly enter channel numbers.
  • Volume Up/Down (VOL +/-): Adjust the audio volume.
  • Channel Up/Down (CH +/-): Change TV channels sequentially.
  • Navigation Pad (Arrows & OK): Use the arrow buttons to navigate menus and select options. The OK button confirms selections.
  • MENU: Access the TV's main menu.
  • SOURCE: Cycle through input sources (HDMI, AV, etc.).
  • RETURN/EXIT: Go back to the previous screen or exit a menu.
  • Dedicated Streaming Buttons: Buttons for YouTube, VUDU, Pandora, and Netflix provide quick access to these streaming services.
  • MTS (Multi-channel Television Sound): This button may control language or audio tracks on some TV models.
  • Globe Button: This button, if present, may also control language settings on some TV models.
  • Sleep Button: Note that on some TV models, this button may default to a specific channel (e.g., channel 5-0) instead of activating a sleep timer.

Note: While most functions are universal, some specific buttons like MTS, the blue Globe button, and the OK button may have varied or limited functionality depending on your specific Hitachi TV model.

Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the remote's response becomes sluggish or stops working. Always replace both batteries at the same time with new AAA batteries.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the remote with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as they may damage the remote's surface or internal components.
  • Storage: Store the remote in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If not used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.

Troubleshooting

  • Remote Not Responding:
    • Ensure batteries are inserted correctly with the correct polarity (+/-).
    • Replace old batteries with fresh AAA batteries.
    • Check for any obstructions between the remote and the TV's infrared sensor.
    • Verify that your TV is a compatible Hitachi model by checking the compatibility section and images.
  • Certain Buttons Not Working:
    • Some advanced functions or specific buttons (e.g., MTS, Globe, Sleep) may not be fully supported by all Hitachi TV models, especially older ones, or may have different functions than expected. This is due to variations in TV firmware and original remote designs.
    • Ensure the remote is pointed directly at the TV's IR receiver.
