Operating Instructions

Once the attachment is set up, you can begin processing your ingredients.

  1. Prepare Food: Cut ingredients into pieces that fit comfortably into the large feed chute. For best results, ensure vegetables are firm.
  2. Select Speed: Plug in your Kitchenaid Stand Mixer. Turn the mixer to a speed setting between 4 and 8. Start with a lower speed (e.g., 4-6) to prevent lighter ingredients from flinging out.
  3. Feed Ingredients: Place the food into the feed chute. Use the food pusher to gently guide the food towards the rotating blade. Do not force food through.
  4. Monitor Output: Ensure the processed food is collecting in the bowl placed underneath.
  5. Finish: Once all ingredients are processed, turn off the mixer and unplug it before detaching the attachment.
Blade Usage Guide:

  • 3mm Fine Blade: Designed for creating thin strips, perfect for shredded cheese, potatoes, and carrots.
  • Wave Stripe Blade: Creates decorative wave-cut slices for potatoes, carrots, and similar produce.
  • 6mm Cutting Cone Blade: Suitable for grating cheese, nuts, and other hard ingredients.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper cleaning ensures the longevity and hygiene of your attachment.

  • Dishwasher Safe Parts: The blades, food pusher, and the clear feed chute cap are dishwasher safe. Place them on the top rack for best results.
  • Hand Wash Only: The main slicer shredder body, which contains metal components for connection to the mixer, must be hand washed. Use warm, soapy water and a soft cloth or brush. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately to prevent water spots or corrosion.
  • Removing Stains: If vegetable coloring (e.g., from carrots) stains the plastic casing, apply a small amount of cooking oil to a cloth and gently wipe the stained area. Then wash as usual.
  • Storage: Store all components in a dry place. The original packaging can be used to keep the blades organized and protected.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Food gums up or clogs the blade.Using the wrong blade for the food type; food is too soft or sticky; overfilling the chute.Ensure you are using the appropriate blade for the ingredient. For soft cheeses, chill them thoroughly before shredding. Do not overfill the feed chute.
Processed food flings out of the bowl.Mixer speed is too high; bowl is too small or positioned incorrectly.Reduce the Kitchenaid mixer speed (try speed 4). Use a larger bowl or position it closer to the outlet. A plate can be used to deflect food into the bowl.
Attachment does not fit or secure to the mixer.Improper alignment with the power hub; attachment knob not tightened.Ensure the attachment shaft is fully inserted and aligned with the square drive shaft in the power hub. Tighten the attachment knob firmly.
Blades are not cutting effectively.Blade not fully seated; food is too hard or fibrous for the selected blade.Check that the blade is securely clicked into place. Ensure the food type is suitable for the blade being used.
