5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your touchscreen and Raspberry Pi.

Ensure the fan is properly installed and free from obstructions to maintain adequate airflow.

6. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter and provides solutions.

6.1 Display Issues (Grey Screen, Flickering)

  • Incorrect Driver: Ensure you have installed the correct drivers for your specific Raspberry Pi model and operating system. Outdated or incorrect drivers can cause display anomalies.
  • Driver Installation: Some users report that specific OS versions (e.g., newer Bookworm OS) might not work directly, or require specific legacy OS versions (e.g., Raspberry Pi OS (Legacy) : 11 Bullseye) for driver compatibility. Verify the recommended OS version from CUQI's official resources.
  • Connection: Double-check that the screen is connected to the first SPI connector on the Raspberry Pi. Incorrect connection can lead to a non-functional display or touch.
  • Power Supply: Ensure your Raspberry Pi has a stable and sufficient power supply. Insufficient power can lead to unstable display behavior.

6.2 Touch Function Not Working

  • SPI Connection: As mentioned in Setup, connecting to the wrong SPI connector can burn out the touch function. If this is the case, the touch function may be permanently damaged.
  • Driver Installation: Ensure the touch drivers are correctly installed. Display drivers and touch drivers might be separate components of the overall driver package.
  • Stylus Use: This screen uses a resistive touch type, which typically requires a stylus or firm press for accurate input. Ensure you are using the provided stylus or a similar tool.

6.3 Overheating

  • Fan Installation: Verify that the mini fan is correctly installed and connected.
  • Airflow: Ensure there is adequate airflow around the Raspberry Pi and the screen. Avoid enclosing the setup in a confined space without ventilation.
