4. Setup and Installation

This battery cover is designed for easy replacement of your camera's existing battery door. Follow these steps for proper installation:

  1. Prepare Your Camera: Ensure your camera is powered off and remove any battery or dummy battery currently in the compartment.
  2. Open the Original Battery Door: Locate and open the existing battery compartment door on your camera.
  3. Remove the Original Door: Most Sony battery doors are attached via a small hinge pin or lever. Gently push or slide the small pin/lever located near the hinge to release the original door from its attachment point. Carefully remove the old door.
  4. Align the New Door: Take the FOTGA Battery Terminal Cover Door. Align its hinge mechanism with the corresponding slot on your camera's battery compartment.
  5. Install the New Door: Gently push or slide the new door into place until it clicks securely onto the hinge pin/lever. Ensure it is firmly attached and can pivot freely.
  6. Test the Mechanism: Close the new battery door and slide the lock mechanism to the 'LOCK' position. Then, slide it to 'OPEN' and open the door to confirm it functions correctly.

5. Operating Instructions

The FOTGA Battery Terminal Cover Door operates similarly to your camera's original door, with the added functionality of a cable out port.

  • Opening the Door: Slide the small lever on the door from 'LOCK' to 'OPEN'. The door will then be able to swing open, providing access to the battery compartment.
  • Closing the Door: Swing the door shut until it sits flush with the camera body. Slide the lever from 'OPEN' to 'LOCK' to secure the door in place.
  • Using the Cable Out Port: If using an NP-FZ100 dummy battery, route the dummy battery's power cable through the designated port on the battery cover before closing the door. This allows the cable to exit the compartment without being pinched or damaging the door's seal.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and proper function of your FOTGA Battery Terminal Cover Door, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the surface of the battery door with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the material.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the door for any signs of wear, damage, or debris that might hinder its proper closing or locking mechanism.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the battery door in a clean, dry environment away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your FOTGA Battery Terminal Cover Door, consider the following:

  • Door Does Not Close/Lock Properly:
    • Ensure there is no debris (e.g., dust, dirt, small particles) obstructing the hinge or the closing path of the door.
    • Verify that the door is correctly seated on its hinge mechanism. If it was recently installed, re-check the installation steps.
    • Confirm that the lock slider is moving freely and is not jammed.
  • Cable Out Port Not Functioning as Expected:
    • Ensure the dummy battery cable is correctly aligned and inserted into the port.
    • Check the dummy battery and its cable for any damage or kinks.

If the issue persists after attempting these troubleshooting steps, please contact FOTGA customer support for further assistance.
