4. Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to set up your STEAMEMO 2.5G Ethernet Switch:
- Unpack the Switch: Carefully remove the switch and all accessories from the packaging.
- Connect Power: Plug the provided power adapter into the DC input port on the switch and then into a standard electrical outlet. The PWR LED will illuminate.
- Connect Network Devices: Use Ethernet cables to connect your network devices (e.g., computers, NAS, routers, gaming consoles) to any of the 2.5G Ethernet ports (1-8). The corresponding Link/Act LED for each connected port will light up.
- Connect SFP Module (Optional): If using a 10G SFP module, insert it into the 10G SFP port. Connect a compatible fiber optic cable to the SFP module.
- Verify Connection: Ensure the PWR LED is solid green and the Link/Act LEDs for connected devices are blinking or solid, indicating an active connection.

5. Operating Instructions
The STEAMEMO 2.5G Ethernet Switch is an unmanaged device, meaning it operates without requiring complex software configuration. Once powered on and connected, it automatically detects and configures connected devices.
LED Indicators:
- PWR (Power) LED:
- On: The switch is powered on.
- Off: The switch is powered off.
- SYS (System) LED:
- On: The system is operating normally.
- Blinking: Indicates system activity.
- Link/Act LEDs (for each 2.5G port):
- Green (2.5Gbps): Indicates a 2.5Gbps link.
- Orange (10/100/1000Mbps): Indicates a 10Mbps, 100Mbps, or 1000Mbps link.
- Blinking: Data activity on the port.
- Off: No link or device connected.
VLAN Mode Switch:
The switch includes a physical VLAN toggle switch. Refer to the 'VLAN Mode Configuration' section for detailed operation.
6. VLAN Mode Configuration
The STEAMEMO switch features a 'One-Key VLAN' function, controlled by a physical switch on the front panel. This mode allows for network segmentation to enhance security and optimize bandwidth.
- VLAN ON: When the VLAN switch is set to 'ON', ports 1 through 8 are isolated from each other. This means devices connected to these ports cannot directly communicate with each other. However, all ports (1-8) can still communicate with the 10G SFP port. This is useful for isolating specific devices or segments of your network for security or performance reasons, while still allowing them access to a central uplink (via SFP).
- VLAN OFF: When the VLAN switch is set to 'OFF', all 2.5G Ethernet ports (1-8) and the 10G SFP port operate as a single, unified network segment. Devices connected to any port can communicate freely with each other. This is the standard operating mode for most home and small office networks.
To change the VLAN mode, simply toggle the physical switch to the desired position. No software configuration is required.

7. Maintenance
The STEAMEMO 2.5G Ethernet Switch is designed for minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure optimal performance and longevity:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the switch. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
- Ventilation: Ensure the switch is placed in a well-ventilated area. Although it features a fanless design, proper airflow helps dissipate heat. Avoid blocking the cooling vents on the sides of the device.
- Temperature: Operate the switch within its specified temperature range of 0–40°C (32–104°F).
- Cable Management: Keep network cables organized and free from kinks or excessive bends to prevent signal degradation.
- Power Supply: Use only the original power adapter provided with the switch.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your STEAMEMO 2.5G Ethernet Switch, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Power:
- Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the switch and a working electrical outlet.
- Check if the power outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
- No Link/Activity on a Port:
- Verify that the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the switch port and the network device.
- Try a different Ethernet cable to rule out a faulty cable.
- Ensure the connected device is powered on and functioning correctly.
- Check the Link/Act LED for the specific port. If it's off, there's no active connection.
- Slow Network Speed:
- Ensure your connected devices and network adapters support 2.5G Ethernet.
- Verify that you are using appropriate Ethernet cables (Cat5e or higher for 2.5G).
- Check the Link/Act LED color; Green indicates 2.5Gbps, Orange indicates lower speeds.
- Devices Cannot Communicate (VLAN Mode):
- If devices on ports 1-8 cannot communicate with each other, check if the VLAN switch is set to 'ON'. If so, this is expected behavior. Set the VLAN switch to 'OFF' if you require direct communication between these ports.
- Intermittent Connection:
- Check for loose cable connections.
- Ensure the switch is not overheating. Provide adequate ventilation.
- Consider restarting the switch by unplugging and replugging the power adapter.
