1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Temank 100A MPPT Solar Charge Controller. Designed for 12V/24V/48V solar systems, this controller efficiently manages power flow from solar panels to batteries, supporting both lead-acid and lithium battery types. Its advanced MPPT technology ensures maximum power harvest, and its parallel connection capability allows for scalable system expansion.

2. Key Features

  • Maximum 12 Units in Parallel: Expand your solar system's total capacity and improve overall power output by connecting up to 12 MPPT controllers in parallel. This model is also compatible for parallel connection with the 80A MPPT controller (Model: POW-M80-PRO).
  • Dual Cooling, Efficient Heat Dissipation: Constructed with die-cast aluminum for excellent heat dissipation and reduced power consumption. Features an upgraded turbofan fan for efficient and quiet cooling, activating at temperatures above 45°C and turning off below 40°C. Suitable for RVs, commercial vehicles, boats, yachts, and various solar systems.
  • Compatible with Multiple Battery Types: Negative grounding design for enhanced safety. Compatible with 12V/24V/36V/48V lead-acid (Sealed, Gel, Flooded) and lithium (LiFePO4 and Lithium-Ion) batteries. Pre-set charging parameters are available, with user customization options for Absorption Voltage, Float Voltage, Low Voltage Cutoff, and Load Timer.
  • Wide Range Voltage/Power Support: Supports high PV input power and voltage. The controller can accept solar voltage up to 160V. Recommended solar power for 12V systems is 1200W (PV input DC20V~DC80V); 2400W for 24V (37~105V); 3600W for 36V (50~160V); and 4800W for 48V (72-160V).
  • Enhanced Protection and Lithium Battery Compatibility: Provides comprehensive protection against overcurrent, short circuit, reversed polarity, overvoltage, over-discharge, and over-temperature. Features an external temperature probe for precise battery temperature monitoring. Activates lithium batteries with solar panel energy (with precautions against overcharging). Note: Do not charge lithium batteries when the temperature is below 0°C.
  • 99% Tracking Technology: Utilizes advanced Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology to continuously track the array’s maximum power point, ensuring maximum power delivery to charge the battery. Tracking efficiency is not less than 99%, with a peak conversion efficiency of up to 97%.

3. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of your solar charge controller. Follow these steps carefully.

3.1 Mounting the Controller

Mount the controller vertically on a sturdy, non-flammable surface, ensuring adequate ventilation around the unit for heat dissipation. Keep it away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, and moisture.

3.2 Wiring Connections

Always connect the battery first, then the solar panels. Ensure all circuit breakers are open before making any connections. Use appropriate wire gauges for your system's current and distance.

  1. Battery Connection: Connect the positive and negative terminals of the battery to the corresponding battery terminals on the controller. Ensure a secure connection.
  2. Solar Panel Connection: Connect the positive and negative leads from your solar array to the PV input terminals on the controller.
  3. Load Connection (Optional): If using the load output, connect your DC load to the load terminals.

3.3 Parallel Connection Setup

For increased system capacity, multiple Temank MPPT controllers can be connected in parallel. Each controller should have its own dedicated solar array input, while sharing a common battery bank.

  • Battery Not Fully Charged: Verify battery type settings are correct. Check charging parameters (Absorption/Float Voltage). Ensure solar array size is sufficient for your battery bank.
