2.2 Charging the Battery

The ANENG 683 Multimeter is equipped with a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. Before first use, or when the low battery indicator appears, charge the device using the provided USB Type-C cable.

  1. Connect the Type-C end of the charging cable to the multimeter's charging port (typically located on the side or top).
  2. Connect the USB-A end of the cable to a standard USB power adapter (e.g., phone charger, computer USB port, power bank).
  3. The display will indicate charging status. Allow the battery to fully charge before extensive use.

2.3 Connecting Test Leads

For most measurements, the test leads must be correctly connected to the multimeter.

  • Insert the black test lead into the COM (Common) jack.
  • Insert the red test lead into the VΩmA jack for voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency, diode, and small current measurements.
  • For high current (up to 10A) measurements, insert the red test lead into the 10A jack.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the power button (usually located on the side) to turn the multimeter ON or OFF. The device features an automatic power-off function to conserve battery life if left idle for a period.

3.3 Measurement Functions

Select the appropriate function on the touch screen before taking a measurement.

  • AC/DC Voltage (V): Connect test leads in parallel to the circuit or component.
  • AC/DC Current (A/mA): Connect test leads in series with the circuit. Ensure correct jack (mA or 10A) is used.
  • Resistance (Ω): Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Connect test leads across the component.
  • Capacitance (F): Ensure the capacitor is discharged. Connect test leads across the capacitor.
  • Frequency (Hz): Connect test leads to the signal source.
  • Temperature (°C/°F): Connect the temperature probe to the multimeter and place the probe tip on the object to be measured.
  • Diode Test: Connect test leads across the diode.
  • Continuity (Buzzer): Connect test leads across the circuit. A beep indicates continuity.
  • NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Induction: Hold the NCV sensor near the conductor. The alarm and flashlight will indicate voltage presence.
  • Live Zero Fire Line: Switch to Live mode. Insert the red test lead into the live wire hole. The flashlight will flash red and an alarm will sound for a live wire. No indication for a zero line.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

To clean the multimeter, wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the device is powered off and disconnected from any circuits before cleaning.

4.2 Battery Care

Recharge the lithium battery regularly, especially if the device will not be used for an extended period, to maintain battery health. Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.

4.3 Storage

When not in use, store the multimeter in its protective silicone sleeve and the provided storage bag to prevent damage from drops, impacts, and scratches. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

5. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your ANENG 683 Multimeter.

  • Device does not power on:
Check if the battery is charged. Connect the Type-C charging cable and allow it to charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on again.
  • No reading or 'OL' (Overload) displayed:
Ensure test leads are correctly inserted into the appropriate jacks for the selected measurement function. Verify that the measurement range is suitable for the value being measured (if not in auto-ranging mode). For resistance, ensure the circuit is de-energized.
  • Inaccurate readings:
Check test lead connections for looseness or damage. Ensure the correct measurement function is selected. Verify that the component or circuit being tested is stable.
  • Screen unresponsive:
Try restarting the device by powering it off and then on again. Ensure the screen is clean and dry.
  • Low battery indicator:
Recharge the multimeter using the provided Type-C USB cable.
