Setup and Installation

The Window Entry Cable is designed for simple and straightforward installation, compatible with various window and door types.

1. Prepare the Cable:

  • Identify the outdoor end (SMA Female connectors) and the indoor end (SMA Male pigtail connectors).
  • Ensure the flat ribbon section is free from kinks or damage.

2. Position the Cable:

  • Open your window or door.
  • Place the flat ribbon section of the cable across the window or door frame.
  • For horizontally sliding windows, position the ribbon on the side frame where the window closes against it, rather than over the sliding rail, to prevent damage.
  • Gently close the window or door, ensuring the ribbon is compressed evenly and the window/door seals completely.

3. Mount the Connection Boxes:

The indoor and outdoor connection boxes can be mounted using either the pre-installed adhesive tape or the included screws.

  • Adhesive Mounting: Peel off the backing from the adhesive tape on the back of each box and firmly press the boxes onto a clean, dry surface adjacent to the window/door frame.
  • Screw Mounting: Open the connection boxes to reveal the screw holes. Use the provided screws to secure the boxes to the wall or frame. Close the boxes securely after mounting to ensure weatherproofing.

4. Adjust Cable Exits (Optional):

The cable exits on both the indoor and outdoor boxes are adjustable to optimize cable routing and create drip loops for outdoor installations.

  • Gently open the cover of the connection box.
  • Reposition the internal cable guide to direct the cables in the desired direction (e.g., downwards for drip loops).
  • Close the cover firmly to secure the cable guide and maintain weather resistance.

Maintenance

The Waveform Window Entry Cable requires minimal maintenance. Periodically inspect the cable and connectors for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion, especially on the outdoor side. The cable is UV resistant, but extreme weather conditions over prolonged periods may affect its lifespan. Ensure all connections remain tight and secure for optimal signal performance.

Troubleshooting

  • No Signal or Poor Signal:
    • Ensure all SMA connectors are securely tightened.
    • Verify that the window or door is fully closed and compressing the flat ribbon evenly.
    • Check for any visible damage to the flat ribbon or connectors.
    • Confirm that the outdoor antenna is correctly aimed and functioning.
  • Window/Door Not Closing Properly:
    • Ensure the flat ribbon is positioned correctly and not obstructed by debris.
    • Verify that the ribbon is not twisted or folded, which could prevent a proper seal.
  • Cable Damage:
    • Handle the interior pigtail leads with care during installation and connection, as they can be delicate.
    • Avoid excessive bending or pulling on the cables, especially near the connection points.
