5. Setup
Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the lantern using the USB Type-C port to ensure optimal battery performance.
- Locate the USB Type-C port on the side of the lantern (refer to Figure 3).
- Open the protective rubber cover.
- Connect a standard USB Type-C cable (not included) to the lantern and a compatible USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, power bank, computer).
- The charging indicator light will illuminate to show charging status.
- Once fully charged, disconnect the cable and securely close the rubber cover to maintain splash protection.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Charging the Lantern
The VARTA Dynamo Camping Lantern L10RH offers two methods for charging:
USB Type-C Charging:
- Connect a USB Type-C cable (not included) to the lantern's port and a power source.
- The charging indicator will show the charging status.
- A full charge via USB Type-C takes approximately 2.5 hours.
Hand Crank Dynamo Charging:
- Locate the hand crank on the bottom of the lantern (refer to Figure 5).
- Fold out the crank handle.
- Rotate the crank clockwise or counter-clockwise at a steady pace.
- Approximately 1 minute of cranking provides 15 minutes of light in low mode.
- The built-in battery level indicator will show the charge level.
6.2. Operating Light Modes
The lantern features three light modes:
- High Mode: Provides maximum brightness for general illumination.
- Low Mode: Offers reduced brightness for extended battery life or softer lighting.
- Night Mode (Red Light): A red light setting for preserving night vision or as a subtle indicator.
To cycle through the light modes:
- Press the power button (refer to Figure 3) once to turn on the lantern in High Mode.
- Press the power button a second time to switch to Low Mode.
- Press the power button a third time to activate Night Mode (Red Light).
- Press the power button a fourth time to turn the lantern Off.
6.3. Using the Integrated Hook
The lantern includes an integrated hook in its base for convenient hanging:
- To deploy the hook, gently pull it out from the base of the lantern (refer to Figure 4).
- Hang the lantern from a tent loop, branch, or other suitable fixture.
- To store the hook, fold it back into the base until it clicks securely into place.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the lantern with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the lantern in a cool, dry place when not in use. For prolonged storage, it is recommended to charge the battery every 3-6 months to maintain battery health.
- Battery: The lantern contains a built-in Lithium-Ion battery. Do not attempt to replace the battery yourself.
