EDISION AMP-30 Mast TV Antenna Amplifier

Model: AMP-30 / 2UHF, 1VHF/FM

Brand: Edision

1. Introduction

The EDISION AMP-30 is a high-performance mast-mounted TV antenna amplifier designed to enhance digital terrestrial DVB-T/T2 signals. It features two UHF inputs and one VHF/FM input, with adjustable gain ranging from 17dB to 32dB, ensuring optimal signal reception. The integrated 5G LTE filter helps to minimize interference from mobile networks, providing a clear and stable television signal. This manual provides essential information for the correct installation, operation, and maintenance of your amplifier.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Power Disconnection: Always disconnect power to the amplifier and associated equipment before performing any installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
  • Proper Grounding: Ensure the antenna system and amplifier are properly grounded according to local electrical codes to prevent electrical shock and protect against lightning.
  • Moisture Protection: The amplifier is designed for outdoor use but ensure all connections are sealed and the housing is securely closed to prevent water ingress. Avoid direct exposure to excessive moisture or submersion.
  • Voltage Requirements: This device requires a 24V DC power supply (e.g., EDISION PSU-2402), which is not included. Using an incorrect power supply can damage the unit.
  • Installation Location: Install the amplifier in an easily accessible location on the antenna mast, ensuring it is away from high-voltage power lines and other potential hazards.

6. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of the EDISION AMP-30 mast amplifier. Refer to the application example diagram for visual guidance.

  1. Mounting: Securely mount the amplifier to the antenna mast using the provided installation material. Ensure it is positioned vertically with the cable entries facing downwards to prevent water accumulation.
  2. Connect Antennas:
    • Connect your first UHF antenna to the UHF1 input.
    • Connect your second UHF antenna (if applicable) to the UHF2 input.
    • Connect your VHF/FM antenna to the VHF/FM input.
Use high-quality F-type connectors and ensure all connections are tight and weatherproof.
  3. Connect Output: Connect the amplifier's OUT port to the input of your 24V DC power supply (e.g., EDISION PSU-2402). This power supply is typically installed indoors and feeds power up the coaxial cable to the amplifier.
  4. Power Supply Connection: Connect the output of the 24V DC power supply to your TV distribution system or directly to your television/set-top box.
  5. Apply Power: Once all connections are secure, plug in the 24V DC power supply.
  6. Adjust Gain: Carefully adjust the individual gain potentiometers for UHF1, UHF2, and VHF/FM on the amplifier module. Start with the lowest gain setting and gradually increase it until optimal signal quality is achieved on your television. Avoid over-amplification, which can lead to signal distortion.

7. Operating Instructions

After successful installation and power-up, the EDISION AMP-30 amplifier operates automatically. The primary operational aspect is the adjustment of gain levels:

  • Gain Adjustment: Use a small screwdriver to turn the potentiometers for each input (UHF1, UHF2, VHF/FM) to fine-tune the amplification level. Monitor your TV's signal strength and quality indicators while adjusting to find the ideal balance. The goal is to achieve a strong, stable signal without pixelation or dropouts, but also without overdriving the TV tuner, which can cause signal degradation.
  • 5G LTE Filter: The amplifier includes an integrated 5G LTE filter that automatically works to reduce interference from cellular signals in the 700 MHz band, ensuring clearer reception for DVB-T/T2 broadcasts. No user adjustment is required for this feature.

8. Maintenance

The EDISION AMP-30 is designed for minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks can ensure its longevity and optimal performance:

  • Inspect Connections: Annually inspect all F-type connections for corrosion, looseness, or damage. Tighten any loose connections and replace corroded cables or connectors.
  • Check Housing: Ensure the amplifier's protective housing is securely closed and free from cracks or damage that could allow water ingress.
  • Clean Exterior: If necessary, gently clean the exterior of the amplifier with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

9. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your EDISION AMP-30 amplifier, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:
