4. Setup

4.1 Initial Charge

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the battery using the provided 10A charger. Connect the charger to the designated charging port (LD20 or 8mm terminal) and plug it into a standard AC outlet. The charger's indicator light will change from red to green when charging is complete.

Important Note: The percentage of electricity displayed on the battery's screen may be inaccurate. When using the battery, it is crucial to estimate the remaining capacity based on the voltage. The power of a 12V LiFePO4 battery is concentrated between 12.2V and 13.2V. The BMS will cut off the battery output when the voltage drops below 10.4V.

4.2 Connecting Devices

The battery offers various output ports for different applications:

  • M8 Terminal: Used to connect high-power devices (≤100A, MAX.1280W) such as electric motors, engines, trolling motors, inverters, and other high-power devices.
  • Anderson Plug (50A): This port has a maximum current of 50A and is used for devices with a power of less than 600W, such as low-power electric motors or low-power engines.
  • LD20 & Charging Port: This port has a maximum current of 20A and is used for low-power devices, such as sonars (fish finders), speakers, and LED lights.
  • USB & PD: Provides 5V USB QC3.0 fast charging and PD fast charging for mobile devices.
  • Cigarette Lighter Socket (20A): Standard 12V output for compatible devices.

Ensure all connections are secure and match the voltage and current requirements of your devices to prevent damage to the battery or connected equipment.

5.2 Monitoring Battery Status

While the display screen shows power percentage and voltage, prioritize monitoring the voltage for an accurate assessment of the battery's state of charge. A 12V LiFePO4 battery's usable power range is primarily between 12.2V and 13.2V. When the voltage drops below 10.4V, the BMS will activate its low-voltage cut-off protection.

5.3 Recommended Applications

This battery is highly versatile and suitable for:

  • Marine & Trolling Motors: Provides reliable power for extended periods on boats and for electric trolling motors.
  • RV & Travel Trailers: Excellent for powering appliances and electronics in recreational vehicles.
  • Solar Systems: Efficient energy storage for off-grid and grid-tied solar installations.
  • Off-Grid Applications: Reliable power source for remote cabins, camping, and emergency backup.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Storage

For long-term storage, ensure the battery is charged to approximately 90% capacity. The battery can maintain 90% power for up to 6 months when stored properly. Store the battery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

6.2 Cleaning

Periodically inspect the battery and its terminals for any dirt, dust, or corrosion. Clean the exterior with a dry, soft cloth. Ensure terminals are clean and connections are tight to maintain optimal performance.

6.3 Operating Temperature

Adhere to the specified operating temperature ranges for charging and discharging to maximize battery life and performance:

  • Charging Temperature: 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F)
  • Discharging Temperature: -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F)

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Common Issues

  • Inaccurate Display Percentage: As noted, the percentage display may not be precise. Always rely on the voltage reading for an accurate state of charge.
  • Battery Not Discharging: If the battery stops providing power, check the voltage. The BMS will cut off output if the voltage drops below 10.4V to protect the battery. Recharge the battery.
  • Charging Issues: Ensure the charger is properly connected and the power source is active. If the charger light does not change to green after an extended period, verify the charger's functionality.
  • USB Port Malfunction: In rare cases, a USB port may become defective. If other ports function correctly, consider using alternative charging methods or contacting customer support.
