Setup

1. Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Align the 2500mAh battery with the back of the radio, ensuring the contacts match.
  2. Slide the battery upwards until it clicks securely into place.
  3. To charge, connect the provided Type-C cable to the port on the battery or the radio itself.
  4. Plug the other end of the cable into a compatible USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, car charger, power bank, computer).
  5. A full charge typically takes about 3 hours via Type-C or 5-7 hours with a seat charger (if applicable).

2. Antenna Attachment

  1. Gently screw the desired antenna (6.1" or 15.12" 771) onto the antenna connector at the top of the radio.
  2. Ensure it is finger-tight to establish a secure connection.

Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off

Rotate the power/volume knob clockwise to turn on the radio. Continue rotating to adjust the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise until it clicks to turn off.

2. Multi-Band Operation

The 5RM supports multiple frequency bands. Use the A/B button to switch between the upper (A) and lower (B) display frequencies. The radio can monitor both simultaneously.

3. Frequency Copy (One-Key Match)

This feature allows for quick pairing with other radios without manual frequency input or PC programming.

  1. Hold down the '[-]' button to activate COPY mode.
  2. Press '#' to choose the desired band for copying.
  3. Press the 'Menu' button to save the channel details.
  4. (NOTICE: Hold down '#' to enter normal SCAN mode.)

4. Programming the Radio

The BAOFENG 5RM can be programmed using several methods:

  • CHIRP Software: Compatible with CHIRP (UV-17Pro setting). Ensure your CHIRP software is updated.
  • CPS Software: Download from walkietalkiesoftware.com (select 5RM/UV26).
  • Wireless Programmer (ODMaster App/Web): Supports wireless programming via a dedicated app or web interface. Choose 5RM (AR-5RM) in the app.

5. NOAA Weather Function
