Maintenance
Cleaning the Trackball
Over time, dust and debris can accumulate around the trackball and its internal rollers, affecting smooth operation. To ensure optimal performance, regularly clean the trackball and the three white rollers inside its housing.
- Gently push the trackball from the bottom of the mouse to remove it.
- Use a clean, lint-free cloth or a cotton swab to wipe the surface of the trackball.
- Carefully clean the three small white rollers located inside the trackball cavity. Ensure no dust or debris remains.
- Reinsert the trackball into its housing until it clicks into place.
Note: If the trackball does not run smoothly, especially after the computer has just started or a large application is running, it might be due to system load rather than debris. Allow your system to stabilize.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Mouse not responding/connecting. | Low battery; Incorrect connection mode selected; USB receiver not plugged in (2.4G); Bluetooth not paired or device's Bluetooth is off. | Charge the mouse; Ensure the correct mode (1, 2, or 3) is selected; For 2.4G, ensure receiver is firmly plugged in; For Bluetooth, re-pair the mouse or check device's Bluetooth settings. |
| Trackball movement is not smooth. | Dust or debris on the trackball or internal rollers; High system load. | Clean the trackball and the three internal rollers as described in the Maintenance section; Close unnecessary applications or restart your computer. |
| Cursor movement is too fast or too slow. | DPI setting is not optimal. | Press the DPI button to cycle through the 5 DPI levels until you find a comfortable speed. |
| Back/Forward buttons not working on Mac OS. | Incompatibility with Mac OS system. | These buttons are non-programmable and not compatible with Mac OS. This is expected behavior. |
Warm Tip: It may take 1-2 weeks to get accustomed to using a trackball mouse, especially if you are new to this type of device. Experiment with different hand positions to find what is most comfortable for you. This learning curve often leads to reduced wrist pressure and improved comfort in the long term.
