Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Kampa Standard Windbreak. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective setup, operation, and maintenance of your windbreak. Please read these instructions carefully before use and retain them for future reference.
The Kampa Standard Windbreak is designed to provide shelter from wind, enhancing comfort during outdoor activities such as camping, caravanning, or beach trips. Its robust construction ensures durability and stability in various conditions.
Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when setting up and using the windbreak. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in injury or damage to the product.
- Ensure all poles are securely connected and pegs are firmly anchored into the ground.
- Do not use the windbreak in extreme weather conditions, such as very strong winds or thunderstorms.
- Keep away from open flames or heat sources. The fabric is not fireproof.
- Supervise children around the windbreak to prevent accidents.
- Check for overhead hazards like tree branches before setup.

Setup Instructions
- Unpack: Remove all components from the carry bag and lay them out on a flat, clear surface.
- Assemble Poles: Connect the sections of each upright pole. Ensure they are fully inserted and locked into place.
- Insert Poles: Slide the assembled poles into the sleeves or pockets along the top and bottom edges of the windbreak fabric.
- Position Windbreak: Stand the windbreak upright in your desired location. Ensure the ground is relatively level and free of sharp objects.
- Secure with Pegs: Use the provided pegs to secure the base of each pole to the ground. For added stability, peg down any additional loops along the bottom edge of the fabric.
- Attach Guy Ropes: Attach the guy ropes to the designated points near the top of each pole. Extend the guy ropes outwards at an angle (approximately 45 degrees) and secure them firmly with pegs. Adjust the tensioners on the guy ropes to ensure the windbreak is taut and stable.
- Final Check: Walk around the windbreak, checking that all poles are upright, pegs are secure, and guy ropes are taut.

Operating the Windbreak
Once set up, the Kampa Standard Windbreak requires minimal operation. Its primary function is to provide a barrier against wind.
- Wind Direction: Position the windbreak to face the prevailing wind direction for maximum effectiveness.
- Adjusting Stability: In gusty conditions, periodically check the tension of the guy ropes and the security of the pegs. Re-tension or re-peg as necessary.
- Relocation: If you need to move the windbreak, carefully remove the pegs and guy ropes, then lift and reposition. Re-secure all anchoring points.
Maintenance
Proper maintenance will extend the life of your Kampa Standard Windbreak.
- Cleaning: Clean the fabric with a soft brush and mild soapy water. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Drying: Always ensure the windbreak is completely dry before packing it away. Packing a damp windbreak can lead to mildew and fabric degradation.
- Storage: Store the windbreak in its carry bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Pole Care: Inspect poles for any damage or bending before and after each use. Clean any dirt from pole sections.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Windbreak is unstable or sways excessively. | Loose pegs, insufficient guy rope tension, or improper guy rope angle. | Re-peg firmly, tighten guy ropes, and ensure guy ropes are angled correctly (approx. 45 degrees from the pole). Consider using heavier-duty pegs in soft ground. |
| Poles are difficult to assemble/disassemble. | Dirt or debris in pole sections, or slight bending. | Clean pole sections thoroughly. If bent, gently try to straighten or replace the affected section. |
| Fabric shows signs of mildew. | Packed away damp. | Clean with a mild mildew remover solution (test on an inconspicuous area first), rinse well, and ensure completely dry before storage. |
