Components and Features

  • Precise Measurements: Measures from 0 to 6 inches with ±0.001 inch accuracy.
  • Shock-Resistant Dial: Features double-shockproof technology for enhanced durability and consistent readings. The pointer rotates smoothly as the slider moves.
  • Durable Materials: Constructed from finely polished stainless steel. Includes a knurled thumb roller and locking screw for smooth sliding and accurate positioning. The hardened glass cover with anti-scratch coating provides anti-glare and anti-scratch properties.
  • Convenient Operation: Equipped with a top knob to secure measurements and a bottom knob on the dial face for zero resetting.

Setup

  1. Unboxing: Carefully remove the dial caliper and its protective case from the packaging.
  2. Initial Inspection: Inspect the caliper for any visible damage or loose parts. Ensure the dial moves freely and the jaws close completely.
  3. Cleaning: Before first use, wipe down the measuring surfaces with a clean, lint-free cloth. A light application of instrument oil can be used on the sliding surfaces to ensure smooth operation.
  4. Zero Setting: Close the measuring jaws completely. If the dial indicator does not point exactly to zero, loosen the bezel hold knob (bottom knob on the dial face) and rotate the dial until the pointer aligns with the zero mark. Tighten the bezel hold knob to secure the zero position.

Operating Instructions

The Dasqua Dial Caliper can be used for four types of measurements: external, internal, depth, and step measurements.

1. External Measurements (Outside Diameter)

Use the large jaws to measure external dimensions. Open the jaws slightly wider than the object, place the object between the jaws, and gently close them using the thumb roller until they make firm contact. Read the measurement from the main scale and the dial indicator.

2. Internal Measurements (Inside Diameter)

Use the small jaws at the top of the caliper for internal measurements. Insert the small jaws into the opening to be measured, then expand them until they make firm contact with the inner surfaces. Read the measurement.

3. Depth Measurements

Extend the depth rod from the end of the sliding jaw. Place the end of the main beam on the top surface of the object, then extend the depth rod until it touches the bottom of the hole or step. Read the measurement.

4. Step Measurements

Use the step measuring faces located on the end of the fixed and sliding jaws. Place the fixed jaw's step face on the higher surface and extend the sliding jaw until its step face rests on the lower surface. Read the measurement.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe the caliper clean with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove any dust, debris, or moisture. For stubborn grime, a mild cleaning solution can be used, followed by thorough drying.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a thin film of light machine oil to the sliding surfaces and the rack to ensure smooth movement and prevent corrosion. Avoid over-lubrication, as it can attract dust.
  • Storage: Always store the dial caliper in its protective case when not in use. Store it in a clean, dry environment, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and corrosive substances.
  • Handling: Handle the caliper with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to impacts, as this can affect its accuracy and damage the delicate dial mechanism.
  • Calibration: While the caliper is factory calibrated, regular checks against known standards (e.g., gauge blocks) are recommended to ensure continued accuracy, especially in professional settings.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Dial pointer does not return to zero.Dial bezel is not properly adjusted or debris is on the rack.Loosen the bezel hold knob, adjust to zero, then tighten. Clean the rack and sliding surfaces.
Jaws do not close completely or smoothly.Debris on measuring faces or sliding beam; lack of lubrication.Clean all surfaces thoroughly. Apply a thin film of light machine oil to the sliding beam.
Inconsistent measurements.Improper handling (e.g., excessive pressure), worn parts, or environmental factors.Ensure consistent measuring pressure. Check for wear on jaws. Store in stable environment. Consider professional calibration if issues persist.
Dial movement is stiff.Lack of lubrication or accumulation of dirt.Clean the rack and apply light machine oil.
