Getting Started

Component Identification

  1. Antenna: For signal transmission and reception.
  2. Power/Volume Knob: Rotate to turn the radio on/off and adjust volume.
  3. PTT (Push-to-Talk) Button: Press and hold to transmit your voice.
  4. Channel Buttons (+/-): Press to change the operating channel.
  5. Speaker: For receiving audio.
  6. Microphone (MIC): For transmitting your voice.
  7. Accessory Port: For connecting earpieces or programming cables.
  8. USB-C Charging Port: For direct charging.
  9. Indicator Light: Shows power and charging status.

Charging the Radios

Ensure radios are turned off before charging. The TD-M8s offers two charging methods:

Attaching the Belt Clip

Align the belt clip with the designated grooves on the back of the walkie talkie and slide it down until it clicks securely into place. To remove, push the release tab and slide the clip upwards.

Attaching the Lanyard

Thread the lanyard loop through the small hole located near the top of the walkie talkie. Secure the lanyard by passing the larger end through the loop and pulling it tight.

Basic Operation

Power On/Off and Volume Adjustment

Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise to turn the radio on. Continue rotating clockwise to increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease the volume and turn the radio off.

Channel Selection

Use the Channel (+) and (-) buttons on the side of the radio to select your desired channel. Ensure all radios intended for communication are set to the same channel.

Transmitting (PTT)

To transmit your voice, press and hold the PTT button. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and listen for a response.

VOX Function (Voice-Activated Transmission)

The VOX feature allows for hands-free conversations without pressing the PTT button. To activate/deactivate VOX:

  1. Turn off the radio.
  2. Press and hold the PTT and Channel (-) buttons simultaneously.
  3. While holding, turn on the radio. You will hear a voice prompt indicating "VOX ON" or "VOX OFF".

Earpiece Use

Connect the acoustic earpiece to the accessory port on the side of the walkie talkie. The earpiece features an integrated microphone and a finger PTT button for private and clear communication, especially in noisy environments.
