2. Safety Information

WARNING: Operating this generator can produce carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas. Using a generator indoors CAN KILL YOU IN MINUTES. ALWAYS use generators outdoors and far away from windows, doors, and vents.

• Carbon Monoxide (CO) Hazard: This generator is equipped with CO Sentry carbon monoxide detection for added safety. If the CO Sentry system detects dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, the generator will automatically shut down. Never operate the generator in an enclosed space.
• Fire Hazard: Gasoline and propane are highly flammable. Always refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Keep fuel away from sparks, open flames, and other ignition sources.
• Electrical Shock Hazard: Never operate the generator in wet conditions. Ensure all electrical connections are secure and dry. Do not overload the generator.
• Hot Surfaces: The generator's engine and muffler become very hot during operation and remain hot for a period after shutdown. Avoid contact with hot surfaces to prevent burns.

4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Assembly

1. Carefully remove the generator and all components from the packaging.
2. Attach the wheel kit and telescoping handle as per the included assembly instructions.

4.2 Adding Engine Oil

The generator is shipped without engine oil. You must add the recommended oil before first use.

1. Place the generator on a level surface.
2. Remove the oil fill cap/dipstick.
3. Using the provided funnel, slowly add 0.6 quarts (0.57 liters) of 10W-30 engine oil until it reaches the upper mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
4. Securely replace the oil fill cap/dipstick.

4.3 Fueling the Generator

Choose either gasoline or propane for operation.

• Gasoline: Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Fill the fuel tank (3-gallon capacity) to approximately 1 inch below the filler neck. Do not overfill.
• Propane: Connect the included propane hose to a standard 20 lb (or larger) propane tank and to the generator's propane inlet. Ensure all connections are tight.

4.4 Battery Connection

For electric start functionality, ensure the internal battery is connected. The generator comes with a battery tender to maintain battery health.

5. Operating

5.1 Starting the Generator

Ensure the generator is on a level, outdoor surface, away from any structures or vents.

1. Prepare for Start:
   • Ensure all electrical loads are disconnected from the generator.
   • Turn the Battery Switch to the "ON" position.
   • Select your desired fuel source using the Fuel Source Switch (GAS or LPG).
2. Starting Procedure:
   • Electric Start: Press and hold the Electric Start button until the engine starts.
   • Remote Start: Press and hold the start button on the remote control fob until the engine starts.
   • Recoil Start: If electric start is unavailable, pull the recoil starter handle firmly and smoothly until the engine starts.
3. Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before connecting electrical loads.

5.2 Connecting Electrical Loads

Once the generator is running smoothly, you can connect your devices.

1. Plug in your appliances or extension cords into the appropriate outlets.
2. Do not exceed the generator's rated wattage (4000W on gasoline, 3600W on propane). Overloading will trigger the overload protection and shut down the generator.

5.3 Economy Mode

To activate Economy Mode, switch the Economy Mode switch to the "ON" position. This will reduce engine speed when the load is low, conserving fuel and reducing noise. For high-demand appliances or starting motors, it is recommended to turn Economy Mode "OFF".

5.4 Stopping the Generator

1. Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator.
2. Allow the generator to run for a few minutes without load to cool down.
3. Turn the Battery Switch to the "OFF" position.
4. If running on gasoline, turn the fuel valve to the "OFF" position. If running on propane, close the valve on the propane tank.

• Engine Oil: Change the engine oil after the first 20 hours of operation, then every 100 hours or annually.

• Fuel System: For gasoline operation, use a fuel stabilizer if storing the generator for more than 30 days. Drain the carburetor and fuel tank if storing for extended periods. Propane does not require fuel stabilization.
