Setup Instructions

  1. Unpack and Inspect: Carefully remove the filter from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any visible damage.
  2. Rinse Components: Rinse the filter unit and sponge(s) thoroughly under clean tap water to remove any manufacturing residues. Do not use soap or detergents.
  3. Assemble Filter: If the filter sponge is not pre-installed, place it inside the filter housing. Ensure it fits snugly.
  4. Attach Suction Cups: Secure the suction cups to the designated points on the back or side of the filter unit.
  5. Position in Aquarium: Place the filter in a corner of your aquarium, ensuring it is fully submerged. Press the suction cups firmly against the aquarium glass to secure the filter in place. The water outlet should be positioned slightly below or at the water surface to create gentle surface agitation.
  6. Connect Power: Once the filter is securely positioned and fully submerged, plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet. Ensure a drip loop is created with the power cord.

Operating Instructions

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficiency of your filter and the health of your aquarium inhabitants.

  1. Disconnect Power: Always unplug the filter from the power outlet before performing any maintenance.
  2. Remove Filter: Carefully remove the filter unit from the aquarium.
  3. Clean Filter Sponge: Disassemble the filter housing and remove the filter sponge. Rinse the sponge thoroughly in old aquarium water (from a water change) or dechlorinated tap water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or detergents, as these can harm beneficial bacteria and fish. Replace the sponge if it is heavily degraded or cannot be cleaned effectively.
  4. Clean Impeller: Periodically, remove the impeller cover and the impeller itself. Clean the impeller and its housing with a small brush to remove any accumulated debris or algae. This helps maintain quiet operation and optimal flow.
  5. Reassemble and Reinstall: Reassemble the filter components, ensuring all parts are securely in place. Reinstall the filter in the aquarium and plug it back in.

Frequency: Clean the filter sponge every 1-2 weeks, or more frequently if water flow decreases noticeably or the aquarium water appears cloudy. Clean the impeller every 1-2 months.
