4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Automatic Recording

Once powered on, the dashcam automatically begins continuous loop recording in 1080p Full HD resolution. Older footage will be overwritten by new recordings when the SD card is full, unless protected by the G-Sensor.

4.2 G-Sensor Functionality

The built-in G-Sensor detects sudden acceleration, deceleration, or impacts. When an event is detected, the dashcam automatically saves the current recording segment to a protected folder on the SD card, preventing it from being overwritten by loop recording. This ensures critical incident footage is preserved.

4.3 Wi-Fi Connectivity and App Usage

The dashcam features integrated Wi-Fi, allowing you to connect it wirelessly to your smartphone via the dedicated CarKam app. This enables:

  • Live View: Stream real-time video from the dashcam to your phone.
  • Footage Download: Easily transfer recorded videos and images to your smartphone.
  • Settings Management: Adjust dashcam settings directly from the app.
  • Easy In-App View: Use the app's timeline scrubber to quickly navigate and play specific video segments.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your dashcam, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning the Lens: Regularly clean the dashcam lens with a soft, lint-free cloth to prevent smudges or dust from affecting video quality. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • SD Card Management: Periodically format your SD card (at least once a month) using the dashcam's app to maintain its performance and prevent data corruption. Back up any important footage before formatting.
  • Temperature Control: Avoid exposing the dashcam to extreme temperatures for extended periods. If your car is parked in direct sunlight, consider removing the dashcam or using a sunshade.
  • Cable Inspection: Periodically check the power cable and connections for any signs of wear or damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your dashcam, refer to the following troubleshooting tips:

  • Dashcam Not Powering On:
    - Ensure the car charger is securely plugged into the cigarette lighter socket and the vehicle's ignition is on.
    - Check the charging cable for any damage.
    - Test the cigarette lighter socket with another device to confirm it is functional.
  • Recording Issues (No Recording/Corrupted Files):
    - Verify that an SD card is inserted correctly.
    - Format the SD card using the CarKam app. If issues persist, try formatting the SD card on a computer to NTFS format, then re-insert and format it again within the camera's application.
    - Ensure the SD card is compatible (refer to Section 3.1). Try a different, known-good SD card if possible.
  • Wi-Fi Connection Problems:
    - Ensure the dashcam is powered on.
    - Restart both the dashcam and your smartphone.
    - Make sure you are within close proximity to the dashcam.
    - Reinstall the CarKam app on your smartphone.
  • Poor Video Quality:
    - Clean the dashcam lens.
    - Ensure the dashcam is securely mounted and not vibrating.
    - Check the resolution settings in the CarKam app to confirm it is set to 1080p.
  • G-Sensor Not Triggering/Over-triggering:
    - Adjust the G-Sensor sensitivity setting in the CarKam app. A higher sensitivity may cause frequent event recordings, while a lower sensitivity might miss minor incidents.
