Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly install your Healthcraft SuperPole:

Step 1: Position the Pole

Place the base plate of the SuperPole on the desired floor location. Ensure the top plate is aligned with a solid ceiling joist or structural support. The pole should be vertical. Avoid placing the pole on loose rugs or uneven surfaces.

Step 2: Extend the Pole

Rotate the extension screw at the base of the pole using a screwdriver to extend the pole upwards until it makes firm contact with the ceiling. Continue turning until the pole is snug but not overly tight. Do not overtighten.

Step 3: Secure the Jam Nut

Once the pole is firmly in place and stable, tighten the jam nut against the threaded collar. This action locks the extension screw in position, preventing the pole from loosening over time.

Step 4: Final Check

Verify the pole's stability by gently pushing and pulling on it from various directions. It should not wobble or shift. Ensure the base plate and top plate rubbers are fully engaged with the floor and ceiling surfaces, providing maximum grip.

Operation

The Healthcraft SuperPole is designed to provide stable support for various daily activities. Use the pole to assist with:

  • Standing Up: Grasp the pole firmly with both hands and use it to push yourself up from a seated position, such as from a bed or chair.
  • Sitting Down: Use the pole for support and control as you lower yourself into a chair or onto a bed, reducing the risk of falls.
  • Transferring: Maintain a grip on the pole while moving between different surfaces, such as from a bed to a wheelchair or toilet.
  • Balance Support: Hold the pole for added stability while moving around the room or performing tasks that require extra balance.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your SuperPole:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the pole and grip surfaces with a damp cloth and mild, non-abrasive soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish or rubber components.
  • Regular Inspection: Check the pole's tension and stability weekly. If it feels loose or wobbly, re-tighten the extension screw and jam nut as per the setup instructions (Steps 2 and 3).
  • Rubber Pads: Ensure the top and base plate rubber pads are intact, clean, and free from damage or wear. Damaged pads can compromise stability. Replace if necessary.
  • Moving the Pole: If you need to relocate the pole, fully release the tension by loosening the jam nut and retracting the extension screw before moving. Reinstall following the setup instructions.

Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:

Issue: Pole feels loose or wobbly.

  • Solution: Re-tighten the extension screw at the base of the pole until it is firm against the ceiling. Ensure the jam nut is securely tightened against the threaded collar to lock the tension.
  • Check Ceiling/Floor: Verify that the pole is installed between solid, stable surfaces. If the ceiling or floor material is soft or damaged, the pole may not maintain tension.

Issue: Difficulty extending or retracting the pole.

  • Solution: Ensure the jam nut is fully loosened before attempting to adjust the extension screw. If resistance persists, check for any obstructions or damage to the threading. Apply a small amount of silicone lubricant if necessary, avoiding contact with rubber pads.
