4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

1. Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
2. Slide the battery pack upwards until it clicks into place.
3. Ensure the battery tightening screw (17 in Figure 2.1) is securely fastened.

4.2 Antenna Attachment

1. Screw the antenna clockwise into the connector on the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

4.3 Charging the Battery

The UV-18H radio can be charged using the provided charging dock or directly via a USB-C cable.

5. Basic Operation

5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control

• Power On: Rotate the Power/Volume Knob (02 in Figure 2.1) clockwise until a click is heard.
• Power Off: Rotate the Power/Volume Knob (02 in Figure 2.1) counter-clockwise until a click is heard.
• Volume Adjustment: Rotate the Power/Volume Knob (02 in Figure 2.1) clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease volume.

5.2 Channel Selection

• Use the Navigation Keys (09 in Figure 2.1) to scroll through available channels.
• Alternatively, use the Numeric Keypad (10 in Figure 2.1) to directly input a channel number.

5.3 Transmitting and Receiving

• To Transmit: Press and hold the PTT Key (11 in Figure 2.1) on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT key to stop transmitting.
• To Receive: Ensure the PTT key is not pressed. The radio will automatically receive signals on the selected channel.

6.1 GPS Functionality
