Setup and Display
Upon receiving your Diecast Masters excavator set, please follow these steps for proper setup:
- Unboxing: Carefully remove the models and display base from their packaging. Retain the original packaging for future storage or transport.
- Placement on Display Base: Position the Caterpillar 225 and 323 models onto the designated areas of the black display base. The base is designed to securely hold both models for optimal presentation.
- Booklet: The detailed 83-page booklet provides additional insights into the history and evolution of these Caterpillar excavators. It is recommended to review this booklet for a deeper appreciation of your collection.
Choose a stable, flat surface for display, away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, or high humidity, which can affect the models' finish over time.

Handling and Display Adjustments
While these models are robustly built, they contain delicate parts. Handle them with care to avoid damage.
- Gentle Handling: Always pick up the models by their main body or base, avoiding delicate components like hydraulic cylinders, mirrors, or antennas.
- Posable Components: Some parts, such as the boom, stick, and bucket, may be posable. Adjust these components gently and slowly to achieve desired display configurations. Avoid forcing any parts that do not move freely.
- Display Environment: Ensure the display area is free from vibrations or accidental bumps that could cause the models to fall.
Maintenance and Care
Regular maintenance will help preserve the appearance and condition of your Diecast Masters models.
- Cleaning: To remove dust, gently wipe the models with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. For more stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed immediately by a dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the paint finish.
- Storage: If storing the models for an extended period, return them to their original packaging to protect them from dust and physical damage. Store in a cool, dry place.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause paint fading and material degradation over time.
Troubleshooting
As these are static display models, extensive troubleshooting is generally not required. However, consider the following for common issues:
- Dust Accumulation: Refer to the "Cleaning" section under Maintenance for instructions on dust removal.
- Loose Parts: If a small part becomes loose, inspect it carefully. For minor reattachments, a small amount of model-specific adhesive may be used, but exercise extreme caution to avoid damaging the finish. For significant damage, contact Diecast Masters customer support.
- Paint Chipping/Scratches: These are typically a result of impact or abrasion. Handle models carefully to prevent such damage. Touch-up paint is generally not recommended unless performed by a professional model restorer.
