General Chainsaw Safety Warnings:
- Keep work area clear: Cluttered areas invite accidents.
- Dress properly: Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep hair and clothing away from moving parts. Wear non-slip footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, and heavy-duty gloves.
- Avoid accidental starting: Ensure the switch is in the off-position before plugging in.
- Do not overreach: Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
- Maintain the tool with care: Keep cutting tools sharp and clean for better and safer performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
- Disconnect power: Unplug the chainsaw from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool.
- Stay alert: Watch what you are doing, use common sense, and do not operate a power tool when you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
- Kickback safety: Be aware of kickback, which can occur when the moving chain contacts an object at the upper quadrant of the guide bar nose. Always use two hands to operate the chainsaw.

3. Setup and Assembly
Before first use, ensure all components are correctly assembled and adjusted.
3.1 Unpacking
- Carefully remove all contents from the packaging.
- Check for any damage during transit. Do not operate if damaged.
- Verify all listed components are present: chainsaw body, guide bar, saw chain, bar cover.
3.2 Installing the Guide Bar and Saw Chain
Note: Always wear protective gloves when handling the saw chain.
- Ensure the chainsaw is unplugged from the power source.
- Loosen the chain tensioning knob (or screws, depending on model) and remove the sprocket cover.
- Place the saw chain around the sprocket and then guide it into the groove of the guide bar. Ensure the cutting edges of the chain are facing the correct direction (refer to the arrow on the chain or bar).
- Fit the guide bar onto the mounting studs, ensuring the chain is properly seated in the bar groove.
- Replace the sprocket cover and lightly tighten the chain tensioning knob/screws. Do not fully tighten yet.
3.3 Adjusting Chain Tension
Correct chain tension is crucial for safe and efficient operation.
- With the sprocket cover still slightly loose, use the chain tensioning knob/screw to adjust the chain tension.
- The chain is correctly tensioned when it can be pulled away from the guide bar by approximately 2-3 mm at the center of the bar, but still snaps back into place when released.
- Once the tension is correct, fully tighten the chain tensioning knob/screws.
- Check the tension again after tightening.

3.4 Filling the Chain Oil Reservoir
The chainsaw requires chain lubricant to ensure smooth operation and extend chain and bar life.
- Ensure the chainsaw is unplugged and on a stable, level surface.
- Unscrew the oil reservoir cap.
- Fill the reservoir with suitable chain and bar oil (not included). Do not overfill.
- Replace the cap securely.
- Regularly check the oil level during operation.

4. Operating Instructions
Always follow safety guidelines and proper cutting techniques.
4.1 Before Starting
- Ensure all safety gear is worn (safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, sturdy footwear).
- Check chain tension and oil level.
- Inspect the work area for obstacles, bystanders, or potential hazards.
- Ensure the power cord is clear of the cutting path and protected from damage.
4.2 Starting the Chainsaw
- Hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands, one on the front handle and one on the rear handle.
- Ensure the chain brake is disengaged (pushed back towards the front handle).
- Press the safety lock-off button (if present) and then squeeze the trigger switch to start the motor.
- Allow the chain to reach full speed before making contact with the wood.
4.3 Cutting Techniques
- Always use two hands: Maintain a firm grip on both handles.
- Plan your cut: Identify the direction of fall for branches or trees.
- Avoid kickback: Do not cut with the tip of the guide bar. Always use the bottom edge of the bar for cutting.
- Cutting small branches: Support the branch to prevent it from pinching the chain.
- Cutting larger logs: Make a relief cut on the underside first to prevent pinching, then cut from the top.

Figure 4.1: The chainsaw in operation, demonstrating a cut through a log. Note the proper two-hand grip.
4.4 Stopping the Chainsaw
- Release the trigger switch. The chain will stop quickly.
- Engage the chain brake by pushing the hand guard forward.
- Unplug the chainsaw from the power source when not in use or when moving to another work area.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your chainsaw.
5.1 Cleaning
- Always unplug the chainsaw before cleaning.
- Remove the sprocket cover and clean out sawdust and debris from around the sprocket, guide bar, and chain.
- Clean the air vents on the motor housing to prevent overheating.
- Wipe down the exterior of the chainsaw with a damp cloth. Do not use solvents.
5.2 Chain Sharpening
A sharp chain is essential for safe and efficient cutting. Dull chains can cause kickback and strain the motor.
- Refer to your chain manufacturer's specifications for the correct file size and sharpening angle.
- Sharpen each cutter evenly.
- If you are unsure, have the chain professionally sharpened or replaced.
5.3 Guide Bar Maintenance
- Regularly clean the guide bar groove to remove sawdust and debris.
- Flip the guide bar periodically to ensure even wear.
- Check for burrs on the guide bar rails and file them smooth if necessary.
5.4 Chain Oil Level Check
- Check the oil level before each use and frequently during operation.
- Never operate the chainsaw without sufficient chain lubricant.
