3. Setup

Follow these steps for the initial setup of your QGeeM USB C Hub:

  1. Connect to Host Device: Plug the integrated USB-C cable of the QGeeM hub into an available USB-C port on your laptop, tablet, or compatible device. Ensure the USB-C port on your device supports video output (DisplayPort Alternate Mode) and Power Delivery for full functionality.
  2. Connect Power (Optional but Recommended): For optimal performance and to charge your host device, connect your original USB-C power adapter to the 100W PD (Power Delivery) port on the QGeeM hub.
  3. Connect External Display: Use an HDMI cable to connect your monitor or projector to the HDMI port on the hub. Your device should automatically detect the external display. Adjust display settings (mirror or extend) through your operating system's display preferences.
  4. Connect USB Peripherals: Plug your USB devices (e.g., mouse, keyboard, external hard drive, USB flash drive) into the USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports on the hub.
  5. Connect to Network: For a stable wired internet connection, connect an Ethernet cable from your router or modem to the Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45) port on the hub.
  6. Insert Memory Cards: If needed, insert your SD or TF (Micro SD) cards into the corresponding slots. Note that the SD and TF card slots cannot be used simultaneously for reading.

4. Operating Instructions

Once set up, operate your QGeeM USB C Hub as follows:

  • Display Modes:
    • Mirror Mode: Duplicates your laptop's screen onto the external display. Ideal for presentations or sharing content.
    • Extended Mode: Expands your desktop across multiple screens, allowing for increased productivity.
    • Clamshell Mode: For Mac users, close your laptop lid while connected to an external monitor and power to use only the external display.
  • Data Transfer: Utilize the USB 3.0 ports for high-speed data transfer (up to 5Gbps) with compatible devices like external SSDs or large flash drives. USB 2.0 ports are suitable for keyboards, mice, and other standard peripherals.
  • Network Connection: The Gigabit Ethernet port provides a reliable and fast wired internet connection, which is often more stable than Wi-Fi, especially for large downloads or online gaming.
  • Card Reading: Insert your SD or TF card firmly into the correct slot. Your operating system will typically recognize the card as a removable drive, allowing you to access or transfer files.
  • Power Delivery: The 100W PD port allows you to charge your USB-C laptop or device while using the hub's other functions. Ensure your power adapter is connected to this port.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your QGeeM USB C Hub, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the hub. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the hub in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: Handle the hub with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to strong impacts, which could damage the internal circuitry or ports.
  • Heat Dissipation: The aluminum housing is designed for efficient heat dissipation. Ensure the hub is placed in a well-ventilated area and not covered during operation to prevent overheating.
  • Cable Management: Avoid excessive bending or twisting of the integrated USB-C cable to prevent internal wire damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your QGeeM USB C Hub, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Display Output via HDMI:
    • Ensure your host device's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode.
    • Check if the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the hub and the monitor.
    • Verify the monitor's input source is set correctly to HDMI.
    • Try a different HDMI cable or monitor to rule out faulty equipment.
    • Restart your host device.
  • USB Devices Not Recognized or Slow Data Transfer:
    • Ensure the hub is securely connected to your host device.
    • For high-power devices, ensure the 100W PD port is connected to a power source.
    • Try connecting the USB device directly to your host device to confirm it's working.
    • Disconnect and reconnect the hub.
  • Power Delivery Not Working:
    • Ensure your USB-C power adapter is connected to the PD port on the hub.
    • Verify your power adapter is functional and provides sufficient wattage (e.g., 100W).
    • Check if your host device's USB-C port supports Power Delivery.
  • Ethernet Connection Issues:
    • Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the hub and your router/modem.
    • Check your network settings on your host device.
    • Try a different Ethernet cable.
  • SD/TF Card Not Reading:
    • Ensure the card is inserted correctly and fully into the slot.
    • Note that SD and TF cards cannot be used simultaneously. Remove one if both are inserted.
    • Test the card in another device to ensure it's not corrupted or damaged.
