4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Preparing the Car Seat for Installation

Before installing the car seat base, ensure the infant inserts and harness are adjusted for your child's size.

Infant Inserts and Harness Adjustment:

  1. The head and body pillows provide a better fit for smaller infants. Remove them as your child grows.
  2. To adjust the headrest and harness height, push down on the harness release lever (located through the opening in the pad) while pulling the harness straps.
  3. Squeeze the adjustment handle lever (located at the top of the headrest) up, then move the headrest up or down to the proper height for your child. The harness straps should be at or just below your child's shoulders.
  4. Release the handle to lock the headrest in place.

4.2 Removing the Car Seat from the Base

The car seat carrier must be side-facing to be removed from the base.

  1. Squeeze the rotation handle on the base and swivel the car seat to face you (side-facing position).
  2. Squeeze the car seat release handle, located on the front of the car seat carrier.
  3. While holding the release handle, lift the car seat carrier off the base.

4.3 Installing the Base with a Vehicle Belt

Ensure the vehicle seat is flat and free of obstructions. The car seat base must be flat on the vehicle seat.

  1. Unfold the load leg from the base, but do not fully extend it yet.
  2. Place the base in the desired rear-facing location in the back seat of your vehicle.
  3. Open the vehicle belt lock-off by squeezing the lever and pulling it forward.
  4. Weave the vehicle lap and shoulder belt through the blue belt path and buckle the seat belt. Ensure the belt is flat and not twisted.
  5. Place your hand in the base and push it down and back toward the vehicle seat to remove slack. Pull the shoulder belt parallel with the belt path to tighten and remove any remaining slack.
  6. Close the vehicle belt lock-off. Both TensionFix indicators (red-to-green) should be completely green when the vehicle belt is properly installed.
  7. If your car has a vehicle belt that can switch to locking mode, slowly pull the shoulder belt all the way out, then let it go back in 1 to 2 inches. You will hear a ratcheting sound, indicating it is locked. Gently pull the belt to confirm it has locked.
  8. Check belt tightness by pushing and pulling the base from side to side. The base should not move more than 1 inch. If it does, reinstall or try a different seating location.
  9. Finally, extend the load leg by squeezing the buttons and pulling it down until it meets the vehicle floor. Release the buttons. The load leg must be perpendicular to the vehicle floor.

  1. Remove the lower anchor belt from its storage location on the base.
  2. Unfold the load leg from the base, but do not fully extend it yet.
  3. Place the base in the desired rear-facing location in the back seat of your vehicle.
  4. Weave the lower anchor belt through the blue belt path.
  5. Attach the LATCH connectors to your vehicle's LATCH anchors. Ensure a secure connection.
  6. Place your hand in the base and push it down and back toward the vehicle seat. Pull the LATCH belt parallel to the belt path to tighten and remove slack. The TensionFix indicators should turn completely green when the LATCH is properly installed.
  7. Check LATCH tightness by pushing and pulling the base from side to side. The base should not move more than 1 inch. If it does, reinstall or try a different seating location.
  8. Finally, extend the load leg by squeezing the buttons and pulling it down until it meets the vehicle floor. Release the buttons. The load leg must be perpendicular to the vehicle floor.

4.5 Attaching the Car Seat to the Base

The car seat carrier must be side-facing to attach to the base.

  1. Align the bar on the back of the car seat carrier with the cradle on the base.
  2. Lower the car seat carrier onto the base until it clicks securely into place.
  3. Pull up on the carry handle to confirm it is locked.
  4. To rotate the car seat to the rear-facing position, firmly rotate the seat towards the back of the vehicle. The rotation lock indicator will show the 'locked' symbol when the car seat is locked into place.

  1. To rotate, squeeze the rotation handle located on the base.
  2. Swivel the car seat carrier to face the vehicle door for easy access.

The Peri 180 features an extendable canopy for full-coverage sun protection and privacy. It zips out to extend and uses quiet magnets to secure it in place.

5.3 Carrying the Infant Seat

The Peri 180 is designed to be lightweight (under 8 lbs without canopy and inserts) for easy portability. Ensure the carry handle is upright and locked when carrying the infant seat.

5.4 Stroller Compatibility

The Peri 180 is compatible with select Maxi-Cosi strollers, including Siena CP, Adorra, Zelia, Maxi Taxi XT, Tayla Max, and Gia XP Strollers. Refer to your stroller's manual for adapter requirements and installation instructions.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning Instructions

The PureCosi fabrics of the Peri 180 are designed for easy cleaning:

  • All cushions and soft goods are machine-washable. Use cold water on a gentle cycle.
  • Do not use bleach.
  • Tumble dry on low heat or air dry.
  • The plastic and metal parts of the car seat and base can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Common Issues and Solutions

  • Loose Installation: If the car seat base moves more than 1 inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path, re-tighten the vehicle belt or LATCH connectors. Ensure the TensionFix indicator is green. If the issue persists, try reinstalling in a different seating position or consult your vehicle's owner's manual.
  • Harness Difficulty: If the harness is difficult to tighten or loosen, check for twists in the straps or obstructions. Ensure the harness release lever is fully depressed when adjusting.
  • Rotation Issues: If the car seat does not rotate smoothly, ensure the rotation handle is fully squeezed and there are no obstructions. The car seat must be empty of the child to rotate.
