5. Setup and Installation

The ISOTRONIC Solar Animal Repellent offers flexible installation options:

5.1 Ground Installation

  1. Assemble the ground stake by connecting the sections.
  2. Attach the repellent unit to the top of the assembled stake.
  3. Choose a location in your garden or outdoor area that receives ample direct sunlight for the solar panel.
  4. Gently push the stake into the ground. Ensure the unit is positioned at a height appropriate for the target animals (e.g., closer to the ground for smaller animals, higher for deer).
  5. Point the device towards the area you wish to protect. For optimal coverage, place units every 6-8 meters.

5.2 Wall Mounting

  1. Identify a suitable wall or fence location that allows the solar panel to receive direct sunlight.
  2. Use appropriate screws (not included) to secure the unit to the wall using the mounting holes on the back.
  3. Ensure the device is securely fastened and pointed towards the desired protection area.

Important Note: Do not turn on the product until installation is complete.

6. Operating Instructions

The repellent unit features two adjustable dials and multiple operating modes:

  • Sensitivity Dial (Left): Adjusts the detection range of the PIR motion sensor. Turn clockwise for higher sensitivity and wider detection range.
  • Mode Dial (Right): Selects the operating mode and ultrasonic frequency.

Operating Modes:

  • Mode 1: Ultrasonic frequency 13.5 - 20 kHz with flame light. Effective for small animals like mice, rats.
  • Mode 2: Ultrasonic frequency 15.5 - 25 kHz with flame light. Effective for medium-sized animals like cats, dogs, martens.
  • Mode 3: Ultrasonic frequency 25 - 45 kHz with flame light. Effective for larger animals like deer, wild boars, foxes.
  • Mode 4: Flame light only. No ultrasonic sound. Activates at dusk.
  • Mode 5: Cycles through Modes 1, 2, and 3 with flame light. Provides comprehensive deterrence for various animals.

To activate the device, turn the mode dial to your desired setting. The flame light will automatically activate at dusk when motion is detected (except in Mode 4 where it's always on at dusk).

7. Maintenance

  • Solar Panel Cleaning: Regularly wipe the solar panel with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, or debris. A clean solar panel ensures efficient charging.
  • Battery Charging: The device primarily charges via its solar panel. If prolonged cloudy weather or insufficient sunlight occurs, you can use the provided USB cable to charge the internal AA batteries. Connect the USB cable to the charging port on the unit and a standard USB power source (e.g., computer, USB wall adapter).
  • Seasonal Storage: If storing the device for an extended period, ensure it is fully charged and stored in a dry place.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Device not activating or seems inactive.
  • Insufficient battery charge.
  • Solar panel is dirty or obstructed.
  • PIR sensor is blocked or not detecting motion.
  • Device is turned off.
  • Ensure the solar panel is clean and exposed to direct sunlight for several hours.
  • Charge the device via USB for 4-6 hours.
  • Check that the PIR sensor is clear of obstructions and facing the desired detection area.
  • Verify the mode dial is set to an active mode (1-5).
Animals are still present in the protected area.
  • Incorrect mode/frequency selected for the target animal.
  • Device placement is ineffective.
  • Strong attractants (food sources) are present.
  • Animals may be accustomed to the frequency.
  • Try a different operating mode, especially Mode 5 (cycling frequencies).
  • Adjust the sensitivity dial.
  • Reposition the device to a more strategic location, ensuring the detection area covers entry points.
  • Consider adding more units for larger areas.
  • Remove all food sources that might attract animals.
Flame light not working at night.
  • Insufficient battery charge.
  • Device is in a mode without flame light (not applicable, all modes 1-5 have flame light).
  • Ambient light is too high (sensor thinks it's still daytime).
  • Ensure the device is fully charged via solar or USB.
  • Check for external light sources that might interfere with the dusk sensor.
