6.2 Cleaning

To clean the enclosure, use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the finish or internal components.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Enclosure not detected:
    • Ensure the SSD is correctly installed and secured within the enclosure.
    • Try connecting the enclosure to a different USB port on your device.
    • Test with a different USB cable if available.
    • Verify that the SSD itself is functional by testing it in another compatible device if possible.
    • For new SSDs, ensure they are initialized and formatted in your operating system's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac OS).
  • Slow transfer speeds:
    • Ensure you are connected to a USB 3.0 (or higher) port on your device. Older USB 2.0 ports will significantly limit speeds.
    • Confirm that your SSD is an NVMe drive for 10Gbps speeds; SATA drives will operate at up to 5Gbps.
    • Close other applications that might be consuming system resources or disk I/O.
    • Check the health of your SSD.
  • Enclosure gets hot:
    • It is normal for the aluminum alloy shell to become warm during operation, especially during heavy data transfers, as it is designed to dissipate heat from the SSD.
    • Ensure the thermal pad is correctly placed on the SSD chips.
