Setup

1. Unpacking and Inspection

  • Carefully remove the guitar and included accessories (bag, strap, Allen wrench, cable) from the packaging.
  • Inspect the guitar for any visible damage that may have occurred during shipping.
  • Ensure all listed accessories are present.

2. Initial Tuning

  • Attach the strap to the guitar's strap buttons if desired.
  • Connect the guitar to an amplifier using the provided 1/4" instrument cable.
  • Use an electronic tuner to tune the Daddario .010-.046 strings to standard EADGBe tuning.

3. Adjusting Action and Intonation (Advanced)

  • The Tune-O-Matic bridge allows for individual string height and intonation adjustments. Use the provided Allen wrench for bridge height adjustments.
  • For intonation, adjust the saddle position for each string until the open note and the 12th fret harmonic match the 12th fret fretted note.
  • Neck relief can be adjusted via the truss rod, typically requiring a specialized wrench (not included) and expert knowledge. Consult a qualified guitar technician if neck adjustments are needed.

Operating the Guitar

1. Controls Overview

The DJP-1000 features a standard control layout for its H-H pickup configuration:

  • Pickup Selector Switch: Typically a 3-way toggle switch to select the neck pickup, bridge pickup, or both.
  • Volume Controls: Two independent volume knobs, one for each humbucker pickup.
  • Tone Controls: Two independent tone knobs, one for each humbucker pickup. These knobs also feature a Push/Pull function for coil-splitting.

2. Tonal Combinations (Coil-Splitting)

The DJP-1000 offers enhanced tonal versatility through its coil-splitting functionality. Each tone knob can be pulled up to split its corresponding humbucker into a single-coil pickup, providing a brighter, thinner tone similar to a single-coil guitar.

  • Humbucker Mode (Coil Split OFF): Tone knobs pushed down. Provides a full, powerful, and warm tone.
  • Single Coil Mode (Coil Split ON): Tone knobs pulled up. Provides a brighter, more articulate tone with reduced output.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

  • After each use, wipe down the strings and body with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth to remove sweat and oils.
  • For the glossy finish, use a guitar-specific polish sparingly to maintain its luster. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Clean the fretboard periodically with a specialized fretboard cleaner and conditioner to prevent drying and cracking.

2. String Replacement

  • Replace strings regularly (e.g., every 1-3 months depending on usage) to maintain optimal tone and playability.
  • Always replace strings one at a time to maintain neck tension.
  • Use Daddario .010-.046 gauge strings or similar for best performance.

3. Storage

  • Store the guitar in its included gig bag or a hard case when not in use to protect it from dust, humidity changes, and physical damage.
  • Avoid exposing the guitar to extreme temperatures or sudden changes in humidity, which can affect the wood.
