  • Electrode: Generates the arc.
  • Tip: Focuses the plasma arc.
  • Ceramic Nozzle (Protective Case): Directs the plasma stream and protects internal components.
  • Spacer Block (Isolation Block): Maintains the correct standoff distance from the workpiece for non-touch cutting.

Setup Instructions

  1. Unpacking and Inspection: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. Report any damage to the supplier immediately.
  2. Power Connection:

The RBC6000DL supports dual voltage operation (110/120V or 220/240V). The unit comes with a pre-installed 120V US standard plug. A conversion cord is included for 240V operation.

    • For 120V operation: Connect the pre-installed plug to a dedicated 120V outlet with a recommended 50A circuit breaker.
    • For 240V operation: Use the provided conversion line to connect the unit to a 240V outlet with a recommended 30A circuit breaker.

WARNING: Ensure the correct voltage and circuit breaker capacity are used to prevent electrical hazards and damage to the machine.

  3. Air Compressor Connection:

Connect your air compressor to the air filter regulator on the back of the plasma cutter. The unit features pre-installed air quick couplings for easy assembly. Ensure the air hose is securely connected and free from kinks.

    • The air filter regulator helps ensure clean, dry, oil-free air, which is crucial for plasma cutter performance and consumable lifespan.
    • Recommended air pressure settings vary with amperage. Refer to the specifications table for guidance.
  4. Torch and Ground Clamp Connection:
    • Connect the AG60 plasma cutting torch cable to the designated port on the front panel.
    • Connect the ground clamp cable to the ground terminal on the front panel. Securely attach the ground clamp to the workpiece or work table, ensuring good electrical contact.
  5. Consumable Installation: Ensure the correct electrode, tip, ceramic nozzle, and spacer block are properly installed in the AG60 torch head. Refer to the "AG60 Plasma Cutting Torch Components" section for a visual guide.

Operating Instructions

  1. Preparation:
    • Wear all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), including a welding helmet, gloves, and flame-resistant clothing.
    • Clear the work area of any flammable materials.
    • Ensure the workpiece is clean and properly grounded.
  2. Power On: Turn on the main power switch on the plasma cutter. The power light on the front panel should illuminate, and the digital display will show the current amperage setting.
  3. Set Amperage and Air Pressure:
    • Adjust the current adjust knob to the desired amperage based on the material thickness and type.
    • Adjust the air filter regulator to the recommended air pressure for your selected amperage.

The RBC6000DL offers powerful cutting capabilities:

    • Under 240V: 10-60A DC output, 5/8" ideal clean cut, 3/4" max severance cut.
    • Under 120V: 10-35A DC output, 3/8" ideal clean cut, 1/2" max severance cut.
  4. Non-Touch Pilot Arc Operation:

The non-touch pilot arc feature allows cutting without direct contact between the torch tip and the metal. This improves cutting quality and extends consumable lifespan, especially on rough, painted, or rusty surfaces.

    • Position the torch tip approximately 1/8" to 1/4" (3-6mm) above the workpiece.
    • Press the torch trigger. The pilot arc will initiate, followed by the main cutting arc.
    • Maintain a consistent standoff distance and travel speed for optimal cut quality.
  5. Cutting Technique:
    • Start cutting at the edge of the material or pre-drill a pilot hole for internal cuts.
    • Move the torch smoothly and steadily along the desired cut line. Observe the molten metal exiting the bottom of the cut (dross) to ensure full penetration.
    • Adjust travel speed as needed. Too fast a speed can result in an incomplete cut, while too slow a speed can cause excessive dross and wider kerf.
  6. Finishing: Release the torch trigger to stop cutting. Allow the machine to cool down if operating for extended periods.

Applicable Cutting Materials

  • Aluminum Alloy
  • Copper Metal

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your plasma cutter.

  1. Consumable Inspection and Replacement:
    • Regularly inspect the torch electrode, tip, and ceramic nozzle for wear. Worn consumables will negatively affect cut quality and performance.
    • Replace consumables as needed. The unit includes an extra 10-piece consumable set.
  2. Air Filter Regulator:
    • Periodically check the water trap on the air filter regulator and drain any accumulated moisture.
    • Ensure the air filter element is clean. Replace if heavily contaminated.
  3. Cleaning:
    • Keep the plasma cutter unit clean and free of dust and metal particles. Use compressed air to blow out internal components if necessary, ensuring the machine is unplugged first.
    • Clean the torch body and cables.
  4. Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect all power and torch cables for cuts, abrasions, or damage. Replace damaged cables immediately to prevent electrical hazards.

Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your plasma cutter.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Machine does not power on.No power supply; Faulty power cable; Blown circuit breaker.Check power outlet and cable connections. Reset circuit breaker. Ensure correct voltage is supplied.
Pilot arc initiates, but main cutting arc does not form.Poor ground connection; Worn consumables; Incorrect air pressure; Workpiece too thick for amperage setting.Ensure ground clamp has good contact. Inspect and replace worn consumables (electrode, tip). Adjust air pressure. Increase amperage or reduce material thickness.
Poor cut quality (excessive dross, wide kerf, incomplete cuts).Worn consumables; Incorrect travel speed; Incorrect amperage or air pressure; Moisture in air supply.Replace worn consumables. Adjust travel speed (slower for incomplete, faster for excessive dross). Verify amperage and air pressure settings. Drain water from air filter regulator.
"OC" (Over-Current) light illuminates.Overload condition; Internal fault.Reduce amperage or allow machine to cool down. If problem persists, contact customer support.
Air flows but no arc.Faulty torch trigger; Damaged torch cable; Consumable issue.Check torch trigger functionality. Inspect torch cable for damage. Ensure consumables are correctly installed and not excessively worn.
