1. Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

• Read all instructions before use.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
• To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or electric kettle in water or other liquid.
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
• Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
• The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or personal injury.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
• Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
• Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.
• Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
• Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot water.
• The kettle is only to be used with the stand provided.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
• Do not fill above the MAX line. Overfilling may cause water to eject when boiling.
• The appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

3. Materials and Construction

4. Setup and First Use

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the kettle and its power base from the packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, fill the kettle with clean water up to the MAX line. Boil the water, then discard it. Repeat this process 2-3 times to remove any manufacturing residues.
3. Placement: Place the power base on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. Ensure the power cord is not dangling where it can be pulled or tripped over.
4. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

1. Filling the Kettle: Open the lid and fill the kettle with the desired amount of water. Do not fill below the MIN mark (1.0L) or above the MAX mark (1.7L). Overfilling can cause boiling water to overflow.
2. Placing on Base: Place the kettle firmly onto the power base. The 360° rotary base allows for easy placement from any angle.
3. Starting Boil: Press the ON/OFF switch downwards. The LED indicator will illuminate, indicating that the kettle is heating.
4. Monitoring Temperature: The integrated thermometer on the front of the kettle displays the current water temperature, allowing you to monitor its heating progress.
5. Automatic Shut-Off: The kettle will automatically shut off once the water reaches a rolling boil (100°C / 212°F). The LED indicator will turn off.
6. Pouring: Carefully lift the kettle from its base using the cool-touch handle. The V-shaped spout is designed for dripless pouring.
7. Re-boiling: If the kettle has just boiled, allow a few moments for the internal thermostat to reset before attempting to re-boil.

6. Safety Features

7. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your KitchMix Electric Kettle.

7.1. Exterior Cleaning

• Always unplug the kettle and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
• Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may damage the finish.
• Ensure the power base and electrical connections remain dry.

7.2. Descaling (Removing Mineral Deposits)

Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the kettle over time, especially in hard water areas. This can affect performance and taste. Descale your kettle regularly (e.g., monthly or bi-monthly depending on water hardness).

1. Prepare Solution: Fill the kettle with 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts water, or use a descaling solution specifically designed for kettles. Alternatively, you can use lemon juice or baking soda as shown in Figure 7.1.
2. Boil: Bring the solution to a boil.
3. Soak: Allow the solution to soak in the kettle for at least 30 minutes, or longer for heavy buildup. For severe scale, you may leave it overnight.
4. Discard and Rinse: Pour out the solution and rinse the interior thoroughly with fresh water several times.
5. Final Boil: Fill the kettle with clean water, boil, and discard to remove any residual taste or odor from the descaling agent.
6. Wipe: After cooling, wipe the interior with a soft cloth to remove any remaining residue.
