3. Setup and Connection
3.1 Charging the Scanner
Before initial use, fully charge the scanner using the provided USB cable. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the scanner's charging port and the other end to a USB power adapter or a computer's USB port. The charging indicator light will provide status.
3.2 Connection Modes
The scanner supports three primary connection modes:

- Wired Mode (USB Connection):
Connect the scanner directly to your computer or POS system using the USB cable. The scanner will function as a standard USB HID keyboard device, and scanned data will appear as keyboard input.
- 2.4G Wireless Mode:
Insert the 2.4G wireless dongle into a USB port on your computer. The scanner will automatically pair with the dongle. This mode provides a stable wireless connection for desktop and laptop use.
- Bluetooth Mode:
Enable Bluetooth on your device (smartphone, tablet, laptop). Scan the "Bluetooth Pairing" barcode from the user manual (refer to the physical manual for specific barcodes). On your device, search for "Symcode Scanner" or similar and pair. The scanner supports Bluetooth HID, SPP, and BLE protocols, which can be configured by scanning specific barcodes in the manual.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Basic Scanning Operation
To scan a barcode, point the scanner's laser at the barcode and press the trigger button. A successful scan will typically be indicated by a beep and/or vibration (if enabled).

4.2 Operating Modes
The scanner offers two main operating modes:
- Instant Upload Mode:
In this mode, scanned barcodes are immediately transmitted to the connected device. This is the default and most common mode for real-time data entry.
- Storage Mode (Inventory Mode):
When the scanner is out of range or not connected, it can store scanned barcodes internally. It has a capacity to store up to 100,000 barcodes. To upload stored data, reconnect the scanner and scan the "Upload Data" barcode from the user manual.
4.3 Customizing Settings
Many scanner settings can be configured by scanning specific barcodes found in the comprehensive user manual. These include:
- Enabling/Disabling sound (buzzer) and vibration.
- Setting auto-sleep time to conserve battery.
- Selecting keyboard language.
- Adding or hiding prefixes/suffixes to scanned data, including date and time.
- Initialization (resetting to factory defaults).
- Calling up or hiding the iOS keyboard (for iOS devices).

5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the scanner's exterior. For the scanning window, use a lens cleaning cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the scanner regularly, especially if it will be stored for an extended period.
- Storage: Store the scanner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Physical Protection: While designed to be durable, avoid dropping the scanner or subjecting it to strong impacts. The mini pocket design (Figure 5.1) makes it easy to carry and protect.

6. Troubleshooting
