Maintenance
- Cleaning: After each use, especially in dirty or wet conditions, clean all metal components with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a light coat of rust-preventative oil to metal parts, especially threaded sections, to ensure smooth assembly and prevent corrosion.
- Sharpening: The axe blade and shovel edges may require sharpening over time to maintain optimal performance. Use appropriate sharpening tools and techniques.
- Storage: Store all components in the provided portable bag in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
- Difficulty Assembling/Disassembling: If components are stiff or difficult to screw together, check for dirt or debris in the threads. Clean and apply a small amount of lubricant. Ensure you are aligning the threads correctly to avoid cross-threading.
- Fire Starter Not Sparking: Ensure the black protective coating has been completely scraped off the magnesium rod. Use a firm, quick scraping motion with the striker.
- Loose Connections: If any section feels loose during use, immediately stop and re-tighten all threaded connections.
