3. Setup and Assembly

The AKS068 keyboard is provided as a kit, requiring the user to install the switches and keycaps. Follow these steps for proper assembly:

  1. Prepare the PCB: Ensure the PCB is clean and free of debris.
  2. Install Switches: Align the pins of each switch with the corresponding holes on the PCB. Gently press the switch until it clicks into place. Ensure the switch is fully seated and the pins are not bent. The hot-swappable sockets support both 3-pin and 5-pin MX style mechanical switches.
  3. Install Keycaps: Once all switches are installed, place the keycaps onto the switches. Align the keycap stem with the cross-shaped stem on the switch and press down firmly until it is secure. Use the provided keycap puller if you need to remove or adjust keycaps.
  4. Connect the Coiled Cable: Plug the USB-C end of the coiled cable into the keyboard's USB-C port. Connect the other end of the cable to an available USB port on your computer.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your keyboard.

5.1 Cleaning

  • General Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe down the keycaps and case. Avoid excessive moisture.
  • Dust Removal: Use compressed air to remove dust and debris from between the keycaps and switches.
  • Deep Cleaning (Keycaps): For thorough cleaning, remove the keycaps using the provided keycap puller. Wash them with mild soap and water, rinse thoroughly, and ensure they are completely dry before reattaching.

5.2 Switch and Keycap Replacement

Thanks to the hot-swappable design, you can easily replace switches and keycaps to customize your typing feel or replace damaged components.

  • Removing Switches: Use the switch puller to gently grip the top and bottom clips of the switch and pull upwards.
  • Installing Switches: Align the pins of the new switch with the hot-swap sockets on the PCB and press down firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure pins are straight to avoid bending.
  • Keycap Replacement: Use the keycap puller to remove existing keycaps. Press new keycaps onto the switch stems until secure.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Ajazz AKS068 keyboard, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Keyboard Not Responding:
    • Ensure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and your computer.
    • Try connecting the keyboard to a different USB port on your computer.
    • Test the keyboard on another computer to rule out system-specific issues.
    • Restart your computer.
  • RGB Backlight Not Working/Incorrect:
    • Ensure the backlight is not turned off (check FN key combinations).
    • Cycle through different RGB modes using FN + \| or FN + DEL.
    • If using VIA, ensure your lighting settings are correctly configured and saved to the keyboard.
  • Keys Not Registering/Double Typing:
    • This may indicate a faulty switch. Since the keyboard is hot-swappable, try replacing the problematic switch with a spare one.
    • Ensure the switch is fully seated in its socket.
  • VIA Software Not Connecting/Recognizing Keyboard:
    • Ensure you are using a compatible browser (Chrome or Edge).
    • Verify that the keyboard is properly connected via USB.
    • Make sure you have enabled "Show Design tab" and "Use V2 definitions" in VIA settings.
    • Load the correct .json definition file for the AKS068 model.
    • Try restarting the browser or your computer.

If these steps do not resolve your issue, please contact Ajazz customer support for further assistance.
