1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your NCLTHS Electric Magnetic Door Lock. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and safety.

The NCLTHS Electric Magnetic Door Lock is designed for secure access control, offering a robust 180KG (396lb) holding force. Its waterproof construction makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. The lock operates on 12V DC power and features a Fail-Safe Normally Closed (NC) mode, ensuring the door remains locked during power outages.

2. Safety Information

  • Ensure all wiring is performed by a qualified professional and complies with local electrical codes.
  • Disconnect power before performing any installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
  • Do not attempt to modify the lock or its components. Unauthorized modifications may void the warranty and pose safety risks.
  • Verify the power supply voltage (12V DC) matches the lock's requirements. Incorrect voltage can damage the device.
  • Keep the lock and its components away from excessive heat, moisture, and corrosive substances.

5. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is critical for the security and functionality of the electromagnetic lock. Follow these steps carefully.

5.1 Standard Mounting (Inward Opening Door)

  1. Prepare the Door Frame: Identify the mounting location on the door frame where the main lock unit will be attached. Ensure it is a sturdy surface.
  2. Mount the L-shaped Bracket (if applicable): For certain installations, an L-shaped mounting bracket may be required. Secure it to the door frame using appropriate screws.
  3. Attach the Magnet Unit: Secure the electromagnetic lock unit to the L-shaped bracket or directly to the door frame using the provided screws. Ensure it is level and firmly attached.
  4. Position the Armature Plate: Attach the armature plate to the door itself. The armature plate should align perfectly with the magnet unit when the door is closed. Use the provided sexnut bolt and steel/rubber washers for proper cushioning and alignment.
  5. Adjust for Alignment: Ensure there is a slight gap (approx. 1-2mm) between the magnet and the armature plate when the door is closed, allowing for proper magnetic engagement. The rubber washers help achieve this.

5.2 Wiring Diagram

The NCLTHS Electric Magnetic Door Lock operates on 12V DC. It is a Fail-Safe Normally Closed (NC) device, meaning it requires power to lock and unlocks when power is removed. Connect the lock to your access control system and power supply as shown in the diagram below.

  • Red Wire: Connect to the positive (+) 12V DC output of your power supply.
  • Black Wire: Connect to the negative (-) / GND of your power supply or access control device.
  • Ensure the power supply is capable of providing sufficient current for the lock.

6. Operating Instructions

The NCLTHS Electric Magnetic Door Lock functions as a secure locking mechanism within an access control system. Its operation is straightforward:

  • Locking: When 12V DC power is supplied to the lock, the electromagnet energizes, creating a strong magnetic field that holds the armature plate (attached to the door) firmly against the lock unit (attached to the frame). This secures the door in a closed position.
  • Unlocking: To unlock the door, the power supply to the electromagnet must be interrupted. This is typically done via an access control device (e.g., keypad, card reader, exit button) which momentarily cuts the power, allowing the door to be opened.
  • Fail-Safe NC Mode: This lock is designed in a Fail-Safe Normally Closed (NC) configuration. This means that in the event of a power failure, the electromagnet will de-energize, and the door will automatically unlock. This is a critical safety feature for emergency egress.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your electromagnetic lock.

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the surface of the lock and armature plate with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or internal components.
  • Inspection: Regularly check the mounting screws for tightness. Ensure the armature plate is free from debris and corrosion. Verify that the rubber washers are intact and providing proper cushioning.
  • Wiring Check: Inspect wiring connections for any signs of wear, fraying, or loose terminals. Ensure all connections are secure.
  • Waterproof Feature: While the lock is waterproof, avoid submerging it or exposing it to high-pressure water jets. The sealed design protects internal components from typical outdoor weather conditions.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your NCLTHS Electric Magnetic Door Lock, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Lock does not engage (door does not secure)No power to the lock; Insufficient power supply; Incorrect wiring; Misalignment of lock and armature plate; Damaged lock unit.Check 12V DC power supply connection and output. Ensure wiring is correct (Red to +, Black to -). Verify alignment of lock and armature plate; adjust if necessary. Inspect for physical damage.
Lock does not release (door remains secured)Power constantly supplied to the lock; Faulty access control device; Wiring issue preventing power cut-off.Check if the access control device is sending the unlock signal correctly. Verify wiring to ensure power is interrupted when unlocking. Test the access control device independently.
Weak holding forceInsufficient power supply; Gap between lock and armature plate too large; Armature plate or lock surface dirty/corroded; Damaged lock unit.Ensure power supply provides stable 12V DC with adequate current. Check for proper alignment and minimal gap (1-2mm) between surfaces. Clean contact surfaces. Inspect for damage.
Lock unit gets excessively hotOvervoltage; Internal short circuit; Continuous operation under high load.Verify power supply voltage is exactly 12V DC. Disconnect power and inspect for internal damage if possible (consult professional). Ensure proper ventilation.

If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact customer support.
