4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery cover on the back of the device.
  2. Open the battery cover by sliding or unscrewing it.
  3. Insert one 9V battery, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  4. Close the battery cover securely.

4.2 Initial Power On

After installing the battery, press the Power Button to turn on the device. The LCD display will light up, and the device will perform a brief self-test before entering measurement mode.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

  • Press the Power Button (marked with ①) to turn the device ON.
  • Press and hold the Power Button for approximately 2 seconds to turn the device OFF.
  • The device will automatically shut down after 10 minutes of inactivity.

5.2 Mode Switching

Press the Mode Switching Button (marked with ② or 'SEL') to cycle through the measurement modes:

  • Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Measurement: Displays readings in mG or µT.
  • Electric Field Measurement: Displays readings in V/M.
  • Ambient Temperature Measurement: Displays readings in ℃ or ℉.

5.3 Reading the Display and Alarms

The LCD screen shows the current measurement value. The three-color signal indicator and audible alarm provide immediate feedback on radiation levels.

Image showing the three-color signal indicator in action: green for low radiation (<4mG), yellow for medium radiation (4-40mG), and red for high radiation (>40mG), each with an associated sound icon.

Figure 5.1: Three-color signal indicator and alarm levels.

  • Green Light: Indicates electromagnetic radiation is below 4 mG (0.4 µT).
  • Yellow Light: Indicates electromagnetic radiation is between 4 mG and 40 mG (0.4 µT and 4 µT).
  • Red Light: Indicates electromagnetic radiation is above 40 mG (4 µT).
  • The audible alarm sound increases with the intensity of radiation. To disable the sound, refer to the device settings (if available, typically a long press on the mode button or a dedicated sound button).

5.4 Data Hold and Max Measurement

  • Press the MAX/BL Button (marked with 'MAX BL') briefly to toggle between current reading and maximum value hold. The 'MAX' indicator will appear on the display when showing the maximum value.
