Figure 2: Front view of the BAOMAIN TBT7-A1 Time Relay, showing the A1, S, A2, 15, 16, and 18 terminals for wiring connections.

Terminal Descriptions:

  • A1: Power Supply Input (Live/Positive)
  • A2: Power Supply Input (Neutral/Negative)
  • S: Control Terminal / Trigger Input. Activated by connection to A1 terminal via an external control contact.
  • 15: Common Contact for the SPDT (Single-Pole Double-Throw) relay.
  • 16: Normally Closed (NC) Contact. Connected to 15 when the relay is de-energized.
  • 18: Normally Open (NO) Contact. Connected to 15 when the relay is energized.

Note: The S-A2 terminals can power a load (e.g., relay, lamp, contactor). The load remains powered when the S terminal is closed.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Controls and Indicators

  • Green LED (Un): Power indicator. Illuminates when the device is powered on.
  • Red LED (R): Output Relay indicator. Illuminates when the output relay is energized.
  • Top Dial: Selects the time range (e.g., 1s, 10s, 1m, 10m, 1h, 10h, 1d, 10d, ON, OFF).
  • Middle Dial: Adjusts the percentage of the selected time range (0-100%).
  • Bottom Dial: Selects the operating function mode (A-J).

5.2. Setting Time Range and Percentage

The TBT7-A1 offers a time range from 0.1 seconds to 10 days. This range is divided into 10 selectable scales using the top dial. The middle dial then allows fine adjustment within the selected scale from 0% to 100%.

Time Range settings for BAOMAIN TBT7-A1
Figure 4: Illustration of the time range selection dial and available settings.
  • Rotate the top dial to select the desired time scale (e.g., 1s, 10s, 1m, 10m, 1h, 10h, 1d, 10d).
  • Rotate the middle dial to set the precise time value as a percentage of the selected scale. For example, if '10s' is selected on the top dial and '50%' on the middle dial, the time will be 5 seconds.

5.3. Function Selection and Descriptions

The bottom dial selects one of the 10 operating functions (A-J). Each function defines how the relay operates based on power application and trigger input (S terminal).

Functions Diagram for BAOMAIN TBT7-A1 Time Relay
Figure 5: Diagram illustrating the 10 different timing functions (A-J) of the TBT7-A1 relay.

Function Modes:

  1. A: Delay ON (Power on)
Upon input voltage (Un) application, timing delay 't' begins. Relay contacts change state after time delay 't' completes. Contacts return to their shelf state when input voltage Un is removed. Trigger switch 'S' is not used in this function.
  2. B: Interval (Power on)
When input voltage (Un) is applied, relay contacts 'R' change state immediately and timing cycle 't' begins. When time delay 't' completes, contacts return to their shelf state. When input voltage Un is removed, contacts will also return to their shelf state. Trigger switch 'S' is not used in this function.
  3. C: Repeat Cycle (Starting off)
When input voltage (Un) is applied, time delay 't' begins. When time delay 't' completes, relay contacts 'R' change state for time delay 't'. This cycle will repeat until input voltage Un is removed. Trigger switch 'S' is not used in this function.
  4. D: Repeat Cycle (Starting on)
When input voltage (Un) is applied, relay contacts 'R' change state immediately and time delay 't' begins. When time delay 't' completes, contacts return to their shelf state for time delay 't'. This cycle will repeat until input voltage Un is removed. Trigger switch 'S' is not used in this function.
  5. E: Off Delay (S Break)
Input voltage Un must be applied continuously. When trigger switch 'S' is closed, relay contacts 'R' change state. When trigger switch 'S' is opened, delay 't' begins. When delay 't' is complete, contacts 'R' return to their shelf state. If trigger switch 'S' is closed before time delay 't' is complete, then time resets. If trigger switch 'S' opens during the delay, it continues to count down. If input voltage Un is removed, relay contacts 'R' return to their shelf state.
  6. F: Single Shot
Upon application of input voltage Un, the relay is ready to accept trigger signal 'S'. Upon application of the trigger signal 'S', the relay contacts 'R' transfer and the preset time 't' begins. During time-out, the trigger signal 'S' is ignored. The relay resets by applying the trigger switch 'S' when the relay is not energized.
  7. G: Single Shot Trailing Edge (Non-Retriggerable)
Upon application of input voltage Un, the relay is ready to accept trigger signal 'S'. Upon application of the trigger signal 'S', the relay contacts 'R' transfer and the preset time 't' begins. At the end of the preset time 't', the relay contacts 'R' return to their normal condition unless the trigger switch 'S' is opened and closed prior to time-out. If trigger switch 'S' is opened during the delay, the delay stops and the relay returns to its shelf state.
  8. H: On/Off Delay
Input voltage Un must be applied continuously. When trigger switch 'S' is closed, time delay 't' begins. When time delay 't' is complete, relay contacts 'R' change state and remain transferred until trigger switch 'S' is opened. If input voltage Un is removed, relay contacts 'R' return to their shelf state.
  9. I: Latching relay
Input voltage Un must be applied continuously. Output changes state with every trigger switch 'S' closure. If input voltage Un is removed, relay contacts 'R' return to their shelf state.
  10. J: Pulse generator
Upon application of input voltage Un, a single output pulse of 0.5 seconds is delivered, and then a time delay 't' begins. Power must be removed and re-applied to repeat pulse. Trigger switch 'S' is not used in this function.
