Setup
1. Adding Vacuum Pump Oil
Before initial use, ensure the pump is filled with the correct amount of vacuum pump oil. A bottle of 330ml vacuum oil is included.
- Unscrew the oil fill cap located on the top of the pump.
- Carefully pour the provided vacuum pump oil into the oil fill port.
- Monitor the oil level through the transparent oil window. The oil level should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks for optimal performance. For the 3.5 CFM model, the MAX level is approximately 310ml and MIN is 220ml.
- Securely replace the oil fill cap.

2. Connecting to System
The pump features a 1/2" ACME and 1/4" SAE intake fitting for convenient connection to different types of tubes and systems.
- Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.
- The air inlet port includes an anti-backflow design and a coarse filter to prevent dust particles from entering.
Operating Instructions
- Ensure the pump is placed on a stable, level surface. The non-slip rubber base provides stability.
- Verify the oil level is correct.
- Connect the vacuum pump to the system requiring evacuation using appropriate hoses and fittings.
- Plug the pump into a grounded electrical outlet.
- Flip the On/Off switch to the "On" position to start the pump.
- Allow the pump to run until the desired vacuum level is achieved. For this 3.5 CFM single-stage pump, it can achieve 2 Pa (150 Micron).
- Once the vacuum is achieved, turn off the pump and disconnect it from the power source.
- Close any valves on your system to maintain the vacuum before disconnecting the hoses from the pump.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your VIVOHOME vacuum pump.
- Oil Change: Regularly check the oil level and clarity. Change the vacuum pump oil when it appears cloudy or discolored, or after every 10-20 hours of operation, or as needed based on usage. The bottom drain valve allows for faster and more complete draining.
- Filter Cleaning: Periodically inspect and clean the intake filter and exhaust filter (built-in cotton filter) to ensure proper airflow and prevent contamination.
- General Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the pump clean and free from dust and debris.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, drain the oil, clean the pump, and store it in a dry, cool place.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not start | No power, faulty switch, motor overheating. | Check power connection. Ensure switch is ON. Allow motor to cool down if thermally protected. |
| Poor vacuum performance | Low or contaminated oil, clogged filters, leaks in system/hoses. | Check/change oil. Clean filters. Check all connections for leaks. |
| Excessive noise/vibration | Low oil, worn components, unstable surface. | Check/add oil. Ensure pump is on a stable surface. If noise persists, contact support. |
| Oil mist from exhaust | Normal operation, or exhaust filter needs cleaning/replacement. | Ensure exhaust filter is clean. Some mist is normal. |
