Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the assembly, installation, and care of your Household Essentials Over-The-Washer Storage Shelf. This shelf is designed to provide convenient storage for laundry supplies, fitting over most front-load washers and dryers with appropriate rear ledges and clearance.
Safety Information
- Always assemble the shelf according to the instructions provided.
- Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 25 lbs (11.3 kg).
- Ensure the shelf is securely mounted to the washing machine or dryer before placing items on it.
- Keep hands clear of moving parts during installation.
Setup and Installation
The Household Essentials Over-The-Washer Storage Shelf is designed for easy, no-drill installation. It perches on your washer or dryer, utilizing friction and gravity for stability. Ensure you have adequate space behind your appliance for proper fitment.
Requirements:
- Appliance must have a rear display panel or ledge.
- Requires approximately 10 inches of clearance behind the washer or dryer for the support brackets.
- Shelf width is 26.5 inches; ensure your appliance can accommodate this width.
Assembly Steps:
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Verify all components are present: 1 wire shelf, 2 support brackets, and rubber inserts.
- Attach Support Brackets: Secure the two support brackets to the underside of the wire shelf. Ensure they are firmly attached.
- Apply Rubber Inserts: Slide the provided rubber inserts onto the ends of the support brackets. These prevent scratching your appliance. For added security, a small amount of adhesive can be used to keep the rubber inserts in place.
- Position the Shelf: Gently slide your washer or dryer away from the wall to create the necessary 10-inch clearance.
- Hook onto Appliance: Place the shelf over the top of your appliance. The upper hooks of the support brackets should rest securely over the top edge of your appliance's rear display panel or ledge.
- Adjust and Brace: The lower ends of the support brackets are designed to be bent for a custom fit. Carefully bend these arms so they brace firmly against the back panel of your appliance. When bending, hold the metal strip at both ends to distribute force evenly and prevent stress on the attachment points. This ensures a tight and stable fit.
- Verify Stability: Once installed, gently test the shelf's stability before placing items on it. Ensure it does not wobble.

Maintenance
To keep your Household Essentials Over-The-Washer Storage Shelf in optimal condition, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:
- Wipe the shelf with a dry cloth to remove dust and spills.
- Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these may damage the protective vinyl coating.
- Periodically check the stability of the shelf and the tightness of the support brackets against your appliance.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your storage shelf, refer to the following common solutions:
- Shelf is unstable or wobbles:
- Ensure the support brackets are bent sufficiently to brace tightly against the back panel of your appliance.
- Verify that the appliance has a suitable rear display panel or ledge for the hooks to rest on.
- Confirm that there is at least 10 inches of clearance behind the appliance for the brackets to extend fully.
- Check that the rubber inserts are securely in place on the bracket ends to prevent slipping.
- Shelf does not fit my appliance:
- This shelf is designed for most front-load washers and dryers with average-height rear ledges and control panels. Low-profile or angled control panels may not provide a secure fit.
- Measure your appliance's width and the available space behind it to ensure it meets the 26.5-inch width and 10-inch rear clearance requirements.
- Shelf appears to bend under weight:
- Ensure the total weight of items on the shelf does not exceed 25 lbs (11.3 kg).
- Distribute items evenly across the shelf.
- Re-check the bracing of the support brackets. If the metal plates of the brackets seem too thin or are twisting, ensure they are bent to provide maximum support against the appliance's back panel.
