5.3 Sensitivity Adjustment

The sensor's motion detection sensitivity can be adjusted through your KINISIUM account settings. Experiment with different sensitivity levels to minimize false positives while ensuring reliable detection for your specific application. A light will blink on the device when it is triggered.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Receiving Alerts

Once set up, the Kinisafe Alert sensor will send notifications to your configured SMS-enabled devices within 10 seconds of detecting movement or tampering. These alerts provide immediate awareness of potential unauthorized access.

6.2 Stealth Mode vs. Deterrent Mode

The compact design of the Kinisafe Alert allows for flexible deployment:

  • Stealth Mode: Place the sensor inconspicuously inside an item or area to be monitored, such as a safe, drawer, or cabinet, to detect movement without being easily noticed.
  • Deterrent Mode: Position the sensor in plain view as a visible deterrent, signaling that the item or area is monitored.

6.3 Off-Grid Compatibility

For locations without a fixed Wi-Fi network, the Kinisafe Alert can be used with a 4G Hotspot Bundle (such as the Kini PLUS Solis Lite Hotspot, sold separately). This enables motion alerts in various environments like hotels, RVs, cabins, or mobile operations.

7. Charging

The Kinisafe Alert sensor is equipped with a long-lasting internal rechargeable battery. To charge the device:

  1. Locate the USB-C port on the sensor.
  2. Connect the provided USB-C charging cable to the sensor and a standard USB power adapter (not included).
  3. The LED indicator will show charging status.
  4. A full charge can last over a year, depending on usage and alert frequency.

The device will send low-battery alerts to your configured devices, ensuring you are notified before the battery is depleted.

8. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the sensor with a dry, soft cloth as needed. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in liquids.
  • Software Updates: Ensure your device's firmware is up to date by checking your KINISIUM account for any available updates.
  • Battery Health: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Recharge when low-battery alerts are received.

9. Troubleshooting

  • No Alerts Received:
    • Verify the sensor is connected to a stable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
    • Check your KINISIUM account settings to ensure alert recipients (phone numbers, emails) are correctly configured.
    • Ensure the device battery is charged.
    • Confirm your SMS-enabled device is receiving messages from unknown senders or check spam folders.
  • False Positives (Too Many Alerts):
    • Adjust the motion sensitivity settings in your KINISIUM account. Lowering sensitivity can reduce unwanted alerts.
    • Ensure the sensor is placed on a stable surface and not subject to vibrations from external sources (e.g., heavy foot traffic, nearby machinery).
  • No Detection (Too Few Alerts):
    • Increase the motion sensitivity settings in your KINISIUM account.
    • Understand that the Kinisafe Alert is an accelerometer-based motion sensor, detecting movement of the device itself. It is not an infrared (IR) sensor that detects movement in a field of view. For example, if placed on the back wall of a shed, it will not trigger if someone opens the door without physically moving the sensor.
    • Ensure the sensor is positioned where it will experience direct movement when unauthorized access occurs.
  • Device Not Connecting to Wi-Fi:
    • Confirm your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The sensor does not support 5GHz networks.
    • Ensure the Wi-Fi signal strength is adequate at the sensor's location.
    • Restart your Wi-Fi router and attempt the connection process again.
